Ongoing Investigation on Criminal Complaint ~ By Bethany Monk
San Andreas, C.A....On Saturday, January 19th, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department received a report of battery occurring at the "Paws" animal sanctuary in San Andreas, according to a press release from the Sheriffs Department ....
The battery was reported to have occurred between a tenant, Jessica Cassidy who was being served an eviction notice by her landlord, Patricia Derby. The landlord is also the director of "Paws," the Performing Animal Welfare Society, located at 1250 Pool Station Road.
The tenant being evicted from the property signed a citizen's arrest affidavit, which necessitated action by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department. The landlord was then cited for battery.
Later, an independent witness supported the landlord's statement; a false report of a felony or misdemeanor charge, regarding the tenant's initial statement, has been forwarded to the District Attorney's office.
No further information is available due to ongoing investigation. We will keep you posted as we know more.
"Paws" in a non-profit organization that rescues abused, neglected, needy wildlife. There are currently 11 African and Asian elephants and 33 tigers at the facility.
