Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/03/2010 12:56 AM
Sonora, CA...On June 10, 1942 a young girl in Amsterdam received a red and white checked autograph album for her thirteen birthday. On a whim, she decided to use it as a diary instead. Through twists of fate this document survives as an eyewitness account of one of modern man’s cruelest times seen through the eyes of one of it’s most innocent victims. It is a testament to the power of human spirit. It is a chronicle of grace and guts under pressure. It is “The Diary of Anne Frank”....

Weekly Market Update Week of August 30, 2010. ~By Donna Stevenson, Pacific West Financial

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/02/2010 11:49 PM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: What is traditionally Wall Street’s quietest month has been about as peaceful as a crowded five-o-clock flight to Las Vegas that’s serving up all-you-can-drink Red Bull. After closing below 10,000 on Thursday, the Dow dropped as low as 9,936 in early Friday trading before finally rallying 165 points (1.7%) to recapture the psychologically important 10,000 level and finally close at 10,150. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq likewise rose 1.7% for the day. In spite of Friday’s performance, each of the major indexes finished to the downside for the week – proof that the ongoing tug-of-war between strong corporate balance sheets and troubling economic indicators is still exerting an influence on the markets...

Draft Noise Ordinance Ready for Your Perusal...But Do it Quietly

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/02/2010 08:25 AM
San Andreas, CA...The proposed noise ordinance for Calaveras County is now ready for your inspection. If you are upset with any portion of the proposed ordinance make sure that you do not raise the noise level more that 10db during the day or 5 db at night. If your protestations should cause noise discomfort to those in the surrounding area you may be sited : ) It will be additionally helpful if you inspect the proposed ordinance in a dimly lit room. Certainly do not inspect the ordinance after dark using outside illumination that can be seen from your neighbors house. If this ordinance proves successful additional ordinances may be considered for headlights on vehicles to make sure they do not cause glare of offend anyone. With the proposed dimmer headlights speeds will also be reduced at night on area roads to 15mph for safety reasons. This will have the added benefit of reducing noise still further. This is a quiet and dark county and we need to make sure it stays that way...
