Cambridge, UK...In 1802, Ludwig van Beethoven asked his doctor to describe his illness after his death, and to make this record public. The great composer’s health and cause of death have been debated ever since, but without the benefit of genetic research... until now. Beethoven’s genome has been sequenced for the first time by an international team of scientists using five genetically matching locks of his hair.

Recognizing the opioid and fentanyl crisis as a multifaceted public health and public safety issue, Governor Newsom’s Master Plan provides a comprehensive approach to save lives. The Master Plan builds on the Governor’s $1 billion investment to tackle this crisis — including an expansion of California National Guard-supported operations that last year led to a 594% increase in seized fentanyl. The Master Plan outlines aggressive steps to support overdose prevention efforts, hold the opioid pharmaceutical industry accountable, crack down on drug trafficking, and raise awareness about the dangers of opioids, including fentanyl.

Murphys, CA...Every year one of the biggest topics of conversation after Irish Day is on crowd size. How many people attended this year? Was it the largest crowd ever? Well, to help answer those burning questions as well as give a birds eye looks at the entire event every year a few minutes after the parade we walk from DEA Bath to the Wine Grape Alliance visitors center. We don't think it was the largest crowd ever but it was a very good crowd as thousands came out and enjoyed the sun.
