    There is no individual accountability.
It's not so much the political parties, but the fact that individuals are no longer held accountable.
This is happening throughout American society.
When leaders can get away with corruption and other crimes, and still get elected, it is the fault of the voters.
Both parties have leaders that are morally corrupt.
Yes, our lack of choice is a major problem.
When voters have to choose the lesser of 2 evils we have a problem.
Having more than 2 parties will not solve the problem.
The parties need to do a better job choosing candidates that aren't corrupt.
You can't tell me that there aren't morally strong people in both parties.
The voters need to make themselves heard.
Might sound naive or overly optimistic, but it's what is needed.

Yes, you are naive and overly optimistic.
But I agree that it is a change in how leaders act in public and private that must change.
More political parties would give voters a choice.

Fox News Media Chief Executive Suzanne Scott announced Henry's dismissal in an internal memo sent to employees Wednesday.

The memo said the company received a complaint on June 25 from the attorney of a former employee that described "willful sexual misconduct in the workplace years ago."

An outside law firm was retained to investigate the claims. "Based on the investigative findings, Ed has been terminated," Scott said.

The cable news network was one of the media hot zones during the #MeToo movement after its founding chief executive, Roger Ailes, was fired for harassing numerous female employees, including anchor Gretchen Carlson, who received a $20-million settlement.

Former hosts Bill O'Reilly and Eric Bolling and correspondent James Rosen are among the on-air employees who have been shown the door following harassment allegations.

“Just look at what happened to @FoxNews. We all miss Roger!!!” he tweeted.

In 2016, the former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson accused Ailes of constant, on-the-job sexual harassment and of firing her when she refused to start a sexual relationship. Her accusations inspired dozens of women to come forward with similar stories.

Among them were multiple former Fox News anchors who said his behaviour cost them their jobs.
Shortly after, Ailes accepted a forced resignation – and an exit package reported to be worth $40m.

Great. Then we will have coalition politics and governments that come and go with Italy or Israel every three months. Our constitution was written with two sets of interests in mind: the rural interests (best represented by Jefferson) and the urban interests (best represented by Hamilton). Since 1920, when the urban population first outnumbered the rural population, we have increasingly become an urban nation congregated on the two coasts. We really need two countries -- one constituted by the south and midwest and a second for everyone else. We need two countries -- three parties will simply get us nowhere.

A US soldier has been accused of plotting an attack on his own unit by sending information to an obscure Nazi Satanist organisation called the Order of Nine Angles (ONA). But who are they?

Founded in the UK in the 1970s, the ONA is an increasing focus for law enforcement and has appeared as an influence in several recent UK terrorism prosecutions relating to the extreme right-wing.

The group lionises the Nazi era and dates its calendar from the birth of Adolf Hitler, but its supernatural belief system goes beyond anything normally associated with right-wing extremism.

What does the group believe in?
Posted on: 2020-06-23 10:22:28   By: Anonymous

Its short-term goal is to undermine what it caricatures as a decadent Judeo-Christian society, with an emphasis placed on real-world acts, the aim being a new imperial civilization based a cruel mixture of Social Darwinism, Satanism, and Fascism.

Adherents are encouraged to secretly infiltrate organisations such as the military or Christian churches in order to destabilise them from within.

Those who progress through the ONA's hierarchical ranks are required to undertake various tasks, including forming their own small groups to prove their leadership abilities, with the result that a decentralised network of associated bodies exists throughout various countries.

There is a total rejection of ethics and some key texts even discuss ritual sacrifice, both symbolic and actual.

One small US-based associate body - which has its own publishing house - was banned from mainstream social media last year. Its members had posed at the sites of various notorious rapes and murders, celebrating the perpetrators in the process.

Some followers also express enthusiasm for Islamist jihadist violence.

All this real-world activity is supposed to have a supernatural effect, opening up a gateway into the world for evil energies.

How influential is it?

The ONA has acted as an influence on several neo-Nazi extremist groups, including the US-based Atomwaffen Division - linked to five murders - and the Sonnenkrieg Division, which was banned as a terrorist organisation in the UK earlier this year.

Such groups reject attempts at gaining popular support for the extreme right - whether through demonstrations or campaigns - and are instead committed to an ideology of so-called accelerationism, which predicts societal collapse and racial warfare, seeking to speed the process up through acts of violence.

The ideology is promoted in several online spaces and that is where it has blended with the ideas promoted by ONA, giving the latter an increased influence on the furthest edges of the extreme right.

Last year a 16-year-old British boy became the youngest person convicted of planning a terror attack in the UK.

The prosecution's case was that he was partly influenced by the ONA, seeking to alter himself in line with their literature.
He had drawn a symbol for the group alongside an instruction for himself to "shed empathy".

Linked to Malevolence

In court, prosecutors described the organisation as "self-consciously, explicitly malevolent" and the "most prominent and recognisable link between Satanism and the extreme right".

The Sonnenkrieg Division, with its glorification of sexual violence, highlights another disturbing theme relating to the ONA - sexual offending as a way of undermining social norms.

The US soldier charged in the terrorism case is alleged to have been part of an online movement whose channels constantly encourage the rape of women and children

The authorities are concerned by the number of paedophiles associated with the ONA, taking the group into a different area of law enforcement activity.

"Ethan Melzer, a private in the US Army, was the enemy within," said acting US attorney Audrey Strauss, who replaced outgoing US attorney Geoffrey Berman following his resignation under pressure from Donald Trump's administration. The indictment marks her first announcement since taking the role.
Mr Melzer is charged with conspiring and attempting to murder as well as providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists, among other charges. He faces life in prison, if convicted.

He joined the US Army in 2018 and was involved with the Order in 2019, according to prosecutors.

The UK-based Order, which lionises Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich as well as Osama Bin Laden, promotes violence to usher in a "Satanic empire" through the destruction of western society, according to antifascist advocacy group Hope Not Hate.

Mr Melzer "consumed propaganda from multiple extremist groups" including Isis, coordinated with Order members through encrypted messaging apps, and planned a "jihadi attack" to cause a "mass casualty" event while describing his "willingness to die", prosecutors said.

"Who gives a f***," he wrote in messages to Order members, according to a federal indictment. "It would be another war ... I would've died successfully ... Another 10-year war in the Middle East would definitely leave a mark."

In May, he sent messages to a suspected member of al Qaeda, and described deployment information including travel, size, locations and surveillance and defences, prosecutors said. The alleged plot was discovered later that month and he was arrested on 10 June.

Mr Melzer was influence by a "diabolical cocktail of ideologies laced with hate and violence," Assistant Attorney General John C Demers said in a statement.

A disaster is unfolding in Montgomery, Alabama, where Martin Luther King preached and where Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on the bus. Hospitals are running short of drugs to treat Covid-19, intensive care units are close to capacity, and ventilators are running short.

Between 85% and 90% of the very sick and dying are African American.

Amid this gathering storm, the city council met to decide whether to require people to wear masks, a basic protection the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommends. Doctors lined up to plead their case.

“This is beyond an epidemic in this area,” said the pulmonologist Bill Saliski. “Our units are full of critically ill covid patients. We have to slow this down.”

His colleague, Nina Nelson-Garrett, described watching undertakers carrying out corpses, 30 minutes apart.

“Something as simple as a mask can save someone’s life,” she said.

Dr Kim McGlothan recounted how she was frequently stopped by white people asking, “Is the media sensationalizing this, is it really as bad as they are making out?”

McGlothan told the council: “People don’t believe the hype. Until you mandate masks, we won’t be able to stop this – we just won’t.”

Then a black resident stood up. Six of his relatives had died from Covid-19. His brother was on a ventilator. “This is not about masks,” he said. “The question on the table is, ‘Do black lives matter?’ I lost six of my family to Covid. How would it feel if it was your family?
