PG&E is so large that it has become impossible to manage. All their meters can turn off individual power individually. Why not just deenergize by zip code instead of by county???

Why deenergize Angels Camp, Jackson or Sonora. Pioneer, Arnold, Twain Harte make sense but the urban centers??

Just Idiotic

They shut off the power to punish users.
And now they will want more money to fix the problem they have made!!!!

Why don't you all read a little about how the grid works. The same people that thinks their food comes from the back of the grocery store are the same ones that think their power comes from just the pole by their house.

listening to people during this outage shows how uneducated people are in common sense. I'm not giving PGE a pass by no means but everybody wants everything easy and convenient for THEM! and nobody else. Look at the system they manage, the expansiveness of it. All those small utilities listed in the vote section have no idea on how run a large system and the sheer dynamics of running a high mtn system vs. a valley system is night and day.

By the Way, Southern California Edison was shutting power off also. Where was the outcry for that? OH thats right, that company has been doing that for years. Not one peep about them

Everybody needs to grow up and become responsible for themselves.

Also, why hasn't anybody bitched about the loss of cell phone service during the outage....AT&T needs to be taken over the state, blah blah blah.

PG&E lineman and crews are some of the best. It is the PG&E corp structure that is the problem. We would be better off it Duke Energy bought the whole thing. Keep all the line personal, wipe away the entire company structure, shutter the headquarters in SF.

Yes, learn something about how an electrical grid functions. Shutting power off at an individual site makes sense only if there is something like a fire just at that location. The entire idea is to turn off a section of high voltage lines that could arch in a wind. That is going to necessarily affect a fairly large section of customers. Have we forgetting what started the Butte Fire.

Jackson, Sutter Hill and Valley Springs stayed on through the outage. Figure that one out.

lack of pg&e maint is obvious. Supervision is lax see a pg&e truck daily 3 hours in front of local residence.

The big comment said it all, no one is ready to take over such a task, PGE may have their faults but I'll put my money on them anytime, they are a great company, I don't work for them but they have the answers to fixing things on time, it may not be your time, we need to learn how to take care of ourselves more, I didn't like the blackout, but survived, and besides I didn't have the tv on, and went to bed earlier, a win win for the body, soul, and mind!

Breaking up PGE is like turning our food supply over to third world countries, I hope it works better! Watch what you would hope for!
