Please do so we can eliminate the spammers the image injection idiots and others and a much better product over all. There is so much more that can be done on the new platform. You do need to work out the bugs in the Share Feature.

Share works ok it is just the return code that is a bit buggy. Sharing is much better than current site

I don't understand why you would have two sites in the first place for this long.
1) I find it very frustrating that you have to search through ads for the news as it is.
2) I think you should post the mug shots of criminals who have been arrested. This informs
those around to keep a closer eye on the alleged criminal if they happen
to live next door.

I agree with most of your comments, except about the ads. This isn't a hobby, ad revenue is needed to keep this running, Go open an actual "paper" and you'll see ads as well.

I agree with the need for mugshots as the Sheriff cannot protect us from a DA who lets them go.

gloop........my understanding of this term comes from ancient wall writtings. the crew whom cleaned-up after the scribes often knocked chards off the wall. the person would often yell "gloop gloop gloop!" meaning : I have nothing to say as I understand nothing!

On most crime stories we publish the mug shots when provided on the interior page of the article. We try to not muck up the front page with images of miscreants on the front page. If you click read more usually we have the mug shots included.

The new site is at ThePineTree.net/new

        Thank you for your feedback

Ads can be located on either side of all the news articles, instead of dead center where the news should be. Check out MyMotherlode for example.
I did go to the new site, after having been on this one for years it will take a little getting use to though. Teaching this old dog new tricks takes time, but I do appreciate the PINETREE and everything you do to bring us local news.
So thank you John and company for everything you do, don't let the local Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum bring you folks down.
They are just being themselves, so it's nothing personal.

Why wouldn't you change? I assume the old code and even the old site can be maintained in background until you are sure there are no big problems with the new one.

On the other hand, if you are planning to burn all bridges so there is no going back, then you ought to really be sure. Or you ought to reconsider why you would do it that way.

Chronological Order
Posted on: 2017-07-24 03:36:38   By: Anonymous

With the old site I can see immediately what is new, read down until I hit something I've already read, and then know that I'm current. The new site is a graphic jumble where one has to wade through old news to find the new stuff - a waste of time and makes it less likely to be checked often.

The old site also does a better job of getting the ads in front of our eyes without cluttering up the news section.

Newspaper?
Posted on: 2017-07-24 03:40:23   By: Anonymous

The new site looks like an attempt to make the site look like a newspaper. Aren't we done trying to pack information into an ancient format and ready to exploit the capabilities of electronic media. Your current chronological order is an example, this could never be done in the old "publish once a day" concept of a newspaper.

No no no no!
Just went there and it is very time consuming and boring to navigate through all the categories of news and see articles multiple times, and not in chrono order! Totally agree with other post about liking the ease on old pine tree of being able to see the most recent posts at a glance as soon as I log on, and I can then do that many times a day. I will be upset to have to scroll around to see if an article is new or if I missed one. I do enjoy having all the local news at my fingertips and scrolling past ads occasionally is fine. Pays the bills that I don't! The heading on my phone is all messed up and I see lots of thumbnail photos at the top of the site for articles with no headings to know what they are. I REALLY do not want to
click on each one to see if it is something I want to read!
I do really like the look of the fonts on headlines and am very ready to get away from the old typewriter font used on EVERY article. Make the old site look fresh with a few tweaks like that, but no, do not make it like MyMotherLode newspapery look!

Also, WHERE is the national news!?!? I check that several times a day on the margin, which is very easy! On new site, I scrolled to bottom and found only a headline stating National News but nothing under it?

John, thanks for asking! Keep up the great job for our tri-county area!!!!
