PG&E May Proactively Turn Off Power for Safety in Portions of 12 Counties Including Amador & Calaveras |

San Francisco, CA...Due to expected extreme fire danger conditions including, the Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service and several other weather factors, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced it may be proactively turning power off for safety and conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff in several northern California cities within the next 24 hours. PG&E could take the action of turning off the power for safety as early as late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The greater likelihood is potentially turning off the power for safety in advance of Sunday evening wind event that is forecasted to last into Monday morning.

West Point, CA...Lumberjack Day takes place on the first Saturday in October and celebrates the history and traditions of the Calaveras County lumber industry. Lumberjack Day includes a parade and car show, vendors, lumberjack competitions including big timbers, chainsaws, and axes! There are activities for the kids and food and fun for the whole family!

West Point, CA...Our 44th Annual Lumberjack Day includes a family fun filled day of adventure starting with soap box derby races at 8:30 am, Best parade in the Mother Lode starts at 11:00 am numerous events throughout the day include, Car show, Logging show, Ax throwing competition, Horseshoe tournament, Childrens play area with face painters and a free petting zoo.

Angels Camp, CA...During our webcast last night the Bret Harte lost Friday's home conference game against Sonora by a score of 47-7. Argonaut took Friday's home conference game against Summerville 28-0. Calaveras tomahawked Amador in a close home win 29 - 27. We have complete game video from our webcast below of the Bret Harte vs Sonora. Also included is the last quarter of the JV game where Sonoro went home with a victory as well.

West Point, CA..On September 19, 2018 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at an address on Acorn Way in West Point. Several outbuildings at this property near the main residence had been converted for marijuana processing/drying and several bunkhouse living quarters had been constructed. 225 large marijuana plants were eradicated from the site.

Lee D Glenn, 60 of Railroad Flat Passed Away in Rail Road Flat Road Collision |

Rail Road Flat, CA...On Saturday, September 15, 2018, at an unknown time Glenn was riding his motorcycle south on Railroad Flat Rd, south of Sierra Oaks Dr. at an unknown speed. As the roadway curved to the left, Glenn failed to follow the roadway and allowed his vehicle to drive off the right roadway edge. The vehicle struck a tree and both the motorcycle and Glenn came to rest at the bottom of a steep culvert, 10-12 feet below the roadway edge. Glenn was reported as missing person to the Calaveras County Sheriff Department and the CHP and the Sheriff Department searched an area south of the collision scene based off of GPS from Glenn's cell phone. The area was searched on Monday night and Tuesday afternoon. CHP airplane, Air-21, was used to search from the sky. All searches were unsuccessful. The collision was discovered on September 18, 2018, at 5:30 pm by a resident checking their mailbox.
