Columbia, CA...Graduation is one of the most important milestone in the academic journey of students. The entire campus community looks forward to the commencement ceremony with family and friends of the graduating class. Because of the extraordinary circumstances due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Columbia College cancelled its 51st Commencement Ceremony following the guidelines issued by the California Department of Public Health. Each and every student graduating this year will have the opportunity to return to the campus and walk formally with the class of 2021 next Spring. Although this graduating class will not get to walk in the traditional graduation ceremony, the college’s Graduation Committee has created packages for each graduating student to include a congratulatory letter from the college president - Dr. Santanu Bandyopadhyay, a graduation cap, tassel, cords and/or sashes for special program involvement, leadership, and/or high GPAs.

Martell, CA...On Monday September 3, 2018 at around 10:45pm, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the owner of Get Ripped Nutrition, Martell. The caller reported he was inside the business with a women and her husband was banging on the door to get inside. The caller stated the husband was a California Highway Patrol Officer.

Altaville, CA...me surrounded by family. She was 86. She was laid to rest in the Angels Camp Cemetery Mausoleum on Oct. 24, 2016, during a private family ceremony.

Calaveras County Veteran Services is currently recruiting two part time or full time Veteran AmeriCorps volunteer stipend positions as part of a Strength to Serve program. These positions start in October, 2014 through September 2015. This is an opportunity for Veterans in our community to serve for one year in a volunteer position that supports other fellow Veterans, along with their families in Calaveras County. The SPARROW Program has been in Tuolumne County for about a year. It is just now being made available to Calaveras County seniors. Catholic Charities and UCSF have partnered up and received a 1.8 million dollar grant from the NIH to study different interventions for treating depression in older adults living in rural areas...
