Murphys, CA ....Tenured Sierra Foothill winemaker, Chuck Hovey, received some great news from Vineyard & Winery Management’s 2012 U.S. National Wine Competition, held April 11 and 12 in Sonoma County. Hovey 2009 Barbera won a double gold and took the sweepstakes as Best Red Wine. More than 1,100 wines were submitted to the competition. Hovey 2009 Zinfandel also took home a silver medal....

Murphys, CA...Tickets go on sale to the public tomorrow, April 12th, for the 2012 Ironstone Vineyards Concert Series which will feature some world-class performers, including Reba on July 21st, John Fogerty on August 3rd, Heart on August 11th, and Jeff Foxworthy on September 8th. The Friday shows will begin at 7:30pm and the Saturday shows at 8:00pm. Tickets start at just $45 and can be purchased at www.ironstonevineyards.com or at www.etix.com.

Murphys, CA...Ironstone Vineyards rolled out the red carpet for the local business community to announce another great lineup for the 2012 season. Steven Kautz is proud of this years lineup and it is about 90% complete with the possibility of adding additional artists and dates. Right now they have announced. Reba McEntire on July 14th is the biggest name on the ticket and will play July 14th. A concert on June 30th with an artist to be named soon. July 7th will be their big 4th of July Show with Shane Dwight, Whiskey Dawn & Chains Required. July 21st Reba, July 28th will be Kelly Clarkson & The Fray. August 4th will be John Fogerty with all of your Credence Favorites. August 11th will be Heart & Foreigner with a couple of shows of Classic Hits between them. Sunday September 2nd will be Jackie Evancho & Tony Bennett backed by a 40 piece orchestra. September 8th will be Jeff Foxworthy. The Ironstone Concours will round out the season on September 22nd. There may be a date added on September 15th as well...

Murphys & Vallecito, CA...We stopped by Twisted Oak Winery this week to check in with Jeff Stai or "El Jefe" of Rubber Chicken fame. When we arrived he was just unpacking and polishing their plaque from the 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition where Twisted Oak came away with a Gold and Three Silvers!!! Jeff says.."For Presidents Weekend, we'll be treating holders of the commemorative Presidents Day wineglass as "Twisted Few for a Day" - which means they get complimentary wine tasting and the club member 20% discount. We've also put our award winning 2006 Tempranillo on sale to glass holders and current club members at just $99 for six bottles. And, at our Main Street tasting room we'll be sampling local honey produced by Blossom Trail Honey"
