The Kitchen at Newsome-Harlow presents our monthly themed dinner for July. "There's an App for That" on Saturday, July 21, 7 pm. Newsome-Harlow Wines Paired with Bite Size Bits of Yumminess. $50 per person ( $40 for club members) includes heavy appetizers, wine samples for pairing, tax and gratuity.

An Evening with David Lindley Tonight At Twisted Oak |

Vallecito, CA...One of the best new venues in the area to take in a concert is at Twisted Oak Winery. Their "Folk At The Oak" Summer Concert Series rolls on tonight with David Lindley. Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word "eclectic." Lindley, well known for his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band El Rayo-X, has long championed the concept of world music. The David Lindley electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish musical sources. Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments including but not limited to Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar, Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud, and Irish bouzouki. The eye-poppingly clad "Mr. Dave's" uncanny vocal mimicry and demented sense of humor make his onstage banter a highlight of the show....

San Andreas, CA...Last Saturday afternoon Wines on Main kicked off what the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce hopes will be an annual event on Historic Old Town San Andreas's Main Street. This narrow strip of historic buildings is a perfect spot to hold events like this one. Wines from many of our local wineries were flowing. We would like to thank Tim Sullivan for the great photos!!!

Murphys, CA...The Kitchen at Newsome-Harlow is now open 7 days a week, presenting small plates and tasty tidbits to pair with their award winning wines. Hours are Sunday - Thursday noon to 5pm and Friday and Saturday noon to 8 pm. Although the menu changes with the availability of fresh produce, the current menu is below...

Murphys, CA...Hovey Wines had opened their new tasting room in downtown Murphys. Congratulations to Jan & Chuck and this will add yet another reason for wine lovers to take the drive to Murphys. Chuck has long been one of the areas premier wine makers and now with the opening of their retail location they have taken the last public step of joining the Murphys wine community. Expect the tradition to continue of award winning wines and now they can even be showcased in their own tasting room. More to follow...

Vallecito, CA...We had the chance to stop by Twisted Oak earlier this week as they were hosting the Marvelous Millennial Wine Marketing Circus. The focus of the Marketing Event was what are some of the best ways to reach the Millennial Generation. There are 1.7 Billion of them world wide and 77 million in the US. This 21-34 year old generation is now larger than the Baby Boomers and is forcing companies to adjust their efforts to reach them....
