Valley Springs, CA...This is Paul Coca with some exciting news. We are having our Chalice meeting on Saturday this weekend on the 20th. This is going to be a BBQ. FIREFALL is providing the BBQ Pit and chicken. We are having the even as specified on the poster behind where the old Vets Hall was at the Gazebo.

They were unjustly sentenced to 20 years in prison. Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Behrouz Tavakkoli, Vahid Tizfahm, and Mahvash Sabet remain behind bars today, serving an unjust sentence for exercising their freedoms of religion, association, and expression.

Murphys, CA...The Reverend Mary Jo Siders, age 81, of Murphys, California, passed away on May 6, 2017. She was born in Rushville, Illinois on August 12, 1935, to Russell and Louise (Mallory) Logan. After graduation from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1957, she married William (Bill) Siders and moved to California. They had two children, Susan and Sarah. Jo worked as a school secretary and office manager for an architectural and engineering firm in San Francisco. She and Bill subsequently divorced.
Columbia, CA...Bring your well-behaved pets (any species--large, small, unusual), on leashes or leads or in carriers, to the 7th annual Pet Blessing at the Church of the 49ers. This special event will be held Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m. on the lawn of the church, located at Parrotts Ferry Road and Jackson Street in Columbia (11151 Jackson Street). Shade and seating and chilled water, and treats for the pets, are provided. The event is free and open to the entire community. Costumes are optional.

Sonora, CA...Passover, an eight-day festival that celebrates the Jews exodus to freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt, is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish religion. This year it begins at sundown, Monday, April 10th. The Mother Lode Jewish Community (MLJC) will be holding their annual Passover Dinner and Seder on the second night, Tuesday, April 11 at 5 pm in Sonora. Rabbi Andra Greenwald will be leading the Seder. Everyone is welcome. Advance reservations and pre-payment are required.
