Ky-Mani Marley to Headline Reggae in the Hills

Angels Camp, CA...The Reggae in the Hills Music Festival, set for June 12-14 2015 at Calaveras County Fairgrounds, is excited to announce Ky-Mani Marley will headline this year’s festival on Saturday, June 13. Ky-Mani Marley (son of the legendary Bob Marley) is known for his hit songs such as “Warriors,” “Dear Dad,” “I Pray,” “Ghetto Soldier,” “Get High” and “Hustler.” Marley has been featured on tracks with the likes of Proteje, Albarose, Young Buck and The Dirty Heads...

It celebrates “The Week of the Young Child” held annually to honor young children and all those who make a difference in the young children’s lives. April 11, 2015 Calaveras Humane Society Benefit "DOG NAIL CLINIC"

Arnold, CA...Local dog professionals came together in Arnold Saturday benefit the Calaveras Humane Society and local dogs for a day of nail trimming! DON’T WORRY - If you missed this, you can still take your pup to Angels Camp on Monday for a second clinic. That will be held at the Humane Society’s Thrift Store located between Rite Aid and Save Mart. Times for Monday are 3-5 PM. The clinics are hosted by Swingstar Collies, The Groom Shop, Carrie Stroble, Aloha Boarding and Training, and Snip-n-Clip Doggie Salon.


Carrie Stroble and Laura Dickey were the guest pedicurists at Saturday’s event in Arnold.

Mozelle Marie Cowden Rolleri “Rusty” 1923 - 2015

Mozelle Marie Cowden Rolleri “Rusty” was born December 6th, 1923 in Lakewood, Ohio to Glenn Cowden and Vivian Gifford Cowden. She attended
schools in Ohio, Alabama and Texas before graduating from Phoenix Union High School in 1941. During WW II she worked as a telephone operator, first in
Phoenix and then in California where she moved in 1944. A “strawberry blonde,” she was known to friends and coworkers as “Rusty.” In late 1945
she met Richard Rolleri and they were married November 5, 1946. The marriage lasted 50 years and produced two sons, Glenn Romie Rolleri and
Richard Cowden Rolleri. Rusty was active in Calaveras County Garden Club Inc. which she joined in 1959. She served in numerous positions including
four terms as president and on various committees and projects. The most well known of these was the Murphys Renewal and Re Leaf, involving saving
and/or replanting trees in Murphys Main Street. Her involvement ended in 1996 when her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He died in 1997.
Rusty’s interest in old roses and wildflowers was well known and many school children gained their first knowledge of local wildflowers from her. She
was a life member in Calaveras County Garden Club Inc., California Garden Clubs Inc, National Garden Club, Inc, Native Seed /S.E.A.R.C.H., Navy League
of the U.S. and the Calaveras Historical Society...
