Angels Camp, CA...On 10-07-16, at approximately 9:20 PM, police department staff were working a special detail at the Bret Harte High School football game.School staff notified an officer that an apparently lost three year old child was located. School staff advised that two young children found the three year old wandering on the sidewalk on Murphys Grade Road, near the student parking lot.
Angels Camp, CA...In 1928 Angels Camp paved the main street. To celebrate the occasion, the citizens held a frog jump competition. This frog jump competition was modeled after the frog jump in the famous short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," written by Mark Twain. Twain spent time in Angels Camp and first heard the jumping frog story at the Angels Hotel. The event became known as the Jumping Frog Jubilee.

San Andreas, CA...The Central Sierra Economic Development District (CSEDD) in collaboration with the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) and the California Association of Local Economic Development (CalED) is being awarded a grant in the amount of $250,000. This funding will be used to establish an economic development planning framework in the form of the Calaveras Business Resource Center (CBRC).

Angels Camp Traffic Stop Nets Drug & Forged ID Arrests

Angels Camp, CA...On 10-13-016, at approximately 9 AM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department assisted a CA State Fish & Wildlife Warden on a traffic stop near the intersection of N. Main Street and Dogtown Road. Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the warden could smell the odor or marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the occupants were both in the area, working at a commercial marijuana cultivation site. Additionally, one of the occupants was in possession of an identification card from the state of Idaho that is suspected to be a forgery. The other occupant was in possession of LSD, which is a controlled substance.

West Point, CA...On Sunday the 9th the Calaveras County Sheriff Deparment received reports of a stolen dark blue Honda CRV from the West Point area junction of Lily Gap and Roden Drive. Yesterday a citizen observed the vehicle traveling directly behind her. She recognized the vehicle from a Nixel report and contacted 911. The male suspect was described as 20s or 30s about 6 ft; with long black hair and a black beard. The male has been identified as Zachary Uriah Gomez of the West Point Area.
