Angels Camp, July 31, 2014: - A Grand Opening celebration will be held at Century 21 Sierra Properties in their new branch, 1301 S. Main St. Angels Camp, starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, Angels Camp, officiated by a member of the City Council and is a service of Destination Angels Camp. Kathleen Bennett, owner of Century 21 Sierra Properties and Calaveras resident for nearly 40 years, recently purchased Vintage Realty and combined both realties’ resources and experience under Century 21 Real Estate, the world’s largest residential real estate sales organization. Nancy Whittle and Janet Cuslidge owned and operated Vintage Realty for 20 years prior to the transition. They continue to provide full real estate services at the same location....

Angels Camp, CA....Vernon Roy DeValle 81 passed away peacefully at home in Angels Camp with his family by his side August 4th. Vern was born to Tony and Babe DeValle in Niles CA on September 11th 1932. He was raised in Newark and worked with his parents on their dairy farm and served in the US Army from 1955 – 1957. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Elizabeth Gilmour of Oakland CA, his six children; Guy (Angela), Susan (Bob) Middleton, Julie (Jeff) Brunson, Clay (Amanda), Adam (Julie) and Holly (Perry) Whittle; his sister Charlotte (Ralph) Sarmento, niece Sandy (Steve) Fields and cousin Randy (Wanda) DeValle....

Summertime Froggin' - The Fishing Report from New Melones is Here

Angels Camp, Ca...New Melones Lake is currently holding 617,717 acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped four feet this week and is currently at 881 ft. above sea level and 204 ft. from full. The water is stained in most areas of the lake, and fairly clear in others. There are mud lines forming near the shore throughout the day, especially on windy days and days with a lot of boating traffic. The average water temperature is 76-82 degrees. Tuttletown launch is closed. Glory Hole Point boat launch is open, and there are no plans to close it. There will be some transition periods between launches where launching will be limited to one or two lanes....

Vallecito, CA...Carole Anne Langworthy passed away at her residence in Vallecito on July 21, 2014 she was 66 years old. Born July 25, 1947 in Los Angeles, Ca., Carole was a Social Worker who enjoyed counseling her clients. She was an Equestrian lover and a great gardener. She is survived by her Brother Todd Langworthy of Vallecito, her Horse Ruff and her dogs Seth and Joey. No Services will be held at this time.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshops

Arnold, Ca...A new series of six-week workshops is starting in Arnold this month to teach residents with chronic conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, arthritis or diabetes, the skills to better manage their conditions. The workshops are open to any Calaveras County adults with chronic ongoing conditions and their family members or partners. The no-cost workshops are sponsored by Public Health Services. People with chronic conditions can avoid complications and improve their health through self-management practices. Self-management skills include stress reduction, healthy eating, ensuring good communication with your doctor and physical activity. The workshops are led by trained and certified non-medical community health workers, who also have chronic health conditions and personally understand the challenges. The workshops were developed by Stanford University...
