Angels Camp, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Cat Adoption Center in Angels Camp, located in Angels Town Center at 240 S. Main St./Hwy 49 (open Thurs.-Sat., 11am to 5pm). Spice will be there, as well as several other kitties who would love to meet you. We will also have kitties available to meet you at our Arnold Adoption Center, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (open Thurs.-Sat., 10am to 5pm). We hope to see you!

Angels Camp, CA....Darlene Strader Olson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on October 18th, 2014. She was born in Santa Monica CA. on December 13th, 1937. A 42 year resident of Angels Camp. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rodney Olson and her three children. Son Steven and wife Kathryn, daughter Cathy and husband Brian and son Eric. Her grandchildren, Jessica, Evan and wife Brittany, Amanda, Haley, Emmalee, Garret and Brandon. Her great grandchildren Sam, Haley, Jason Jr., Lila, Braxton, Bryson and Aubree...

As you carve your pumpkin or pick out a costume this year, keep in mind that one of the best choices you can make is to drive sober or designate a sober driver to get you home safely. The Avoid the 2 DUI Task Force is reminding all drivers that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving because every Halloween there are still some people who think they can drive after drinking.... |

Calaveras County, CA...We will “fall back” from daylight saving time on November 2. Whew! That is only 49 days before the Winter Solstice. Then on the second Sunday of March 2015 we “spring forward” again. This happens in most states with Arizona being one of the few exceptions. Daylight Saving Time is not entirely popular and there are some drawbacks. For example, it has been found that accidents of all types increase on days following the time change in March. This probably results from sleep deprivation.

Angels Camp, CA...A 25 year old Linden Woman was driving her 1991 Honda Civic N/B on Pool Station Road at 45-50 mph, approaching a 2005 Mercedes Benz S500 driven by a Lodi Man. on Pool Station Road, south of Upper Andy Road at 40-45 mph, approaching Vehicle #1. The roadway was wet from recent rainfall. As Vehicle #1 entered a right curve in the roadway, Party #1 failed to slow Vehicle #1 to a safe speed for the wet roadway. As a result, Vehicle #1 traveled into the opposing S/B lane of Pool Station Road, directly into Vehicle #2's path of travel. Party #2 had no opportunity to safely avoid a collision with Vehicle #1, and the left front of Vehicle #1 struck the front of Vehicle #2....
