Calaveras County's Celebrated Jumpers Hit The Road In Snazy Frogmobile |

Frogtown, USA...A snazzy new Frogmobile is transporting Calaveras County's Celebrated Jumping Frogs on their annual public appearance tour. The State Captiol Frog Jump highlights the itinerary on May 6 in Sacramento, with many local stop offs scheduled prior to the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, May 14-17 at Frogtown. The frogs and their entourage of Frog Jump Committee members/handlers are traveling in luxury in a van wrapped with frog graphics - courtesy of donations from Angels Sewer and Drain and the Wintercreek Foundation. Graphics are by Eric Calialgro.

Arnold, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE), open THURS.–SAT., 10 am–5 pm. We will also have kitties available at our Angels Camp Adoption Center, located in Angels Town Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), open Thurs. through Sat., 11 am–5 pm. This week we have guest cats from Calaveras County Animal Services appearing at both adoption centers! This is an exciting new opportunity to meet and adopt shelter cats at the CHS Adoption Centers! Although kitten season has arrived, there are still many wonderful adults from last season and beyond, like Abby, who have been patiently waiting for quite a while for their forever homes. Please opt to adopt a precious adult kitty and don't leave them behind! Come in and find your special companion!

Meanwhile, two entities, the Bureau of Reclamation (which is responsible for storing our water) and the California State Water Resources Control Board (which is responsible for monitoring our water resources) have chosen to ignore these challenging drought conditions and release billions of gallons of water from New Melones Reservoir for Environmental Purposes!

Bret Harte High School Cybullfrogs Club Receives Grant from Calaveras Community Foundation |

Angels Camp, CA...Cybullfrogs, a Bret Harte High School LegoRobotics club has received a $9993.00 grant from the Calaveras Community. The money will be used to buy hardware and software to allow more students to participate in the hands-on building of programmable robots. In March, 2014, a small group of Bret Harte students approached Timothy Randall, Math teacher, and Ken Baldwin, Drafting and Digital Photography teacher, with a desire to start a robotics club. The teachers volunteered as mentors and organizers and with the help of a grant from the Tyler Orsow Foundation and seed money from Bret Harte, the club was able to purchase four Lego Mindstorms kits....
