Frogtown, CA....We are here on scene at the fair and spoke with the owner of Midway Rides. He informed us that OSHA has cleared the Kiddie section of the rides. The Kiddie Rides are opening now and the other side will be re-opening hopefully shortly thereafter. So the 2008 Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump & Jubilee is back at full speed. Everyone we spoke with at the fair felt very fortunate that the injuries were not more serious. Now that the fair has the all clear we can all focus on the Frog Jump. Will Rosie The Ribiter's record hold for another year? Video of one of the fist batches of riders on the Silver Streak...the first ride to reopen...is enclosed.

Carnival Rides to Remain Closed Today |

Angels Camp, CA...We just received an update call from Sgt. Dave Seawell confirming that the carnival rides will remain closed today at the Calaveras County Fair. OSHA and local personnel are inspecting the rides to find out what may have caused the accident last evening. There still is still a possibility that rides may open tomorrow. We will keep you posted as we know more.

| Angels Camp, CA... A thrill ride at the Calaveras County Fair collapsed on Friday evening sending 23 fairgoers to area hospitals. At approx. 6:05 pm the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a ride had collapsed injuring numerous persons. This is the first known accident of this type in the history of the Calaveras County Fair..... |

Greetings from San Rafael....Tis the season for farmers’ market shopping. So where would I travel in search of the juiciest of fruits and the crisp flavorsome vegetables just harvested that morning? Well, I did not feel like driving to San Francisco or Monterey and it is a little early for Davis Ranch in Sloughhouse to open, so I set my Lexus in auto-drive and headed for Marin County.....

Frogtown, USA....Today is Extreme Excitement Day at the Fair! Gates opened at 8am with the Goat show and 9am with beef and rabbit show. At 11am the Frog Jump entry Booth opens. Enjoy Story Time with Ann Mazzaferro every hour. 12 noon is the "Fun Jump!" The Calaveras Idol Competition starts at 3pm and 5pm at the Mark Twain Hall stage. Then we have the popular "Tuff Trucks" in the arena starting at 7:30pm with the California Outlaws immediately following. Enjoy your day at the Fair! Full Schedule for today enclosed....

City of Angels Camp City Council To Meet on Tuesday May 20th |

| Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels City Council will meet on Tuesday May 20th starting with a Budget Workshop at 4pm. During this Workshop they will discuss Use Tax Information and Projections; Skateboard Park; ACBA Budget; Water treatment and wastewater treatment budget; Final guidelines for preparation of the 08/09 budget; The regular meeting will begin at 6pm. Some of the discussion items will be Solid Waste Rate Increase; Access to parcels from Angels Camp Bypass; PG&E Lighting Project; Approval of final parcel map for Angels Creek, LLC and more.
