Frogtown, CA...We just finished live streaming the 80th International Frog Jump Grand Finals. Jacob Smith, of Fresno wins the 2008 Frog Jump with a distance of 19 foot 3 inches with his frog "Skeeter Eater." Second Place was awarded to Lisa Fasano, and Third Place goes to Brandon Brooks. This is "Skeeter Eater's 2nd year of hopping in the Calaveras County Jumping Jubilee. Hanna took some great shots of todays event so be sure to stay tuned for some more fun pictures. Hwy 49 and Finnegan Lane Collision Starts Grass Fire |

Angels Camp, CA....CHP is reporting a vehicle hit a fire hydrant at Hwy 49 and Finnegan Lane in Angels Camp. The collision apparently started a grass fire. CHP and CAL Fire are on scene now and they have the fire almost out. An ambulance is also en-route. We are unsure of any injuries at this time.

Frogtown, CA...Yesterday was a good day at the Calaveras County Fair. With great news that most of those injured in the ride collapse are now home and some even back at the fair there seemed to be a nice return to normalcy that eased it's way into the mood yesterday afternoon. Even the rides started spinning again and for the thousands of people & animals who call Frogtown their temporary home for a few days in May it was time to relax...

Quad Accident Sends 12 Year Old Martinez Resident to UC Davis. |

| Angels Camp, CA...The Martinez 12 year old was traveling at a high rate of speed on Shetland and lost control of his quad. The quad overturned several times before coming to a stop. The accident embedded the right hand brake handle into his lower right arm. He was flown to UC Davis for treatment of his wounds. The report is enclosed... |

Frogtown, CA....Come on out to Frogtown USA for a grand old time at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee for the final day on Sunday May 18th! Today is the famous "International Frog Jump Day!" Gates open at 7am with a Buyers Breakfast at 7am in the Cattlemans Tent. The Frog Jump Entry Booth Opens at 8:30am with the Junior Livestock Auction following at 9am in the barn area. The Qualifying Frog Jump will also begin at 9am. The carnival opens at 12 noon with the International Frog Jump Finals at 2:30pm. And to end a perfect day they have the Destruction Derby at 5pm. Have a great day at the Fair! Enclosed are the Final 2007 Frog Jump Results plus we have the replay video enclosed of our webcast of the finals. Relive the Hopping. Schedule of events also enclosed....

Frogtown, CA....We are here on scene at the fair and spoke with the owner of Midway Rides. He informed us that OSHA has cleared the Kiddie section of the rides. The Kiddie Rides are opening now and the other side will be re-opening hopefully shortly thereafter. So the 2008 Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump & Jubilee is back at full speed. Everyone we spoke with at the fair felt very fortunate that the injuries were not more serious. Now that the fair has the all clear we can all focus on the Frog Jump. Will Rosie The Ribiter's record hold for another year? Video of one of the fist batches of riders on the Silver Streak...the first ride to reopen...is enclosed.

Carnival Rides to Remain Closed Today |

Angels Camp, CA...We just received an update call from Sgt. Dave Seawell confirming that the carnival rides will remain closed today at the Calaveras County Fair. OSHA and local personnel are inspecting the rides to find out what may have caused the accident last evening. There still is still a possibility that rides may open tomorrow. We will keep you posted as we know more.
