Frogtown, CA....On Saturday we took a few minutes to talk with some of the participants in the poultry section of the fair. Some were happy, Some were sad and some just didn't want to talk to us on camera. Regardless of their placings the majority of them were very pretty birds indeed. One of the participants in particular thought the whole process in her class was focused waay too much on her breast size. She didn't think she should have to subject herself to exotic foods and "Treatments" just to remain competitive. She felt she was fine just the way she was. The hot late spring day even had some of their tongues really wagging....

Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp Community Pool will be opening for the 2008 Season on Tuesday, June 10th at 12 Noon. The Pool will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 pm until 5:00 for all and from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm for adults only. As in the past, a small entry fee will be charged to offset operational expenses. The fees will be $1.00 per day for adults, $.50 per day for children. Season passes can be purchases at the gate.....

Frogtown, CA....Attendance was very good for the Calaveras County Fair this year, 43,897. Not bad for a small town fair!

Angels Camp, CA...Don't miss the Chamber Mixer, this Thursday May 22nd. It will be hosted by Golden State Cellular in the Mark Twain Shopping Center, 374 North Main St in Angels Camp from 5:30 - 7:00pm. Everyone will go home with a prize! Local wines, Champagne fountain, delicious food, door prizes and Lots of mingling with other local business people!! Middleton's will also be open for Mixing!

Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp held their City Council meeting tonight. The City Council passed the first two of possibly three measures that will allow for rate increases to compensate the vendor SEI for their significantly increased costs due to the rapidly rising fuel costs....

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,381,541 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped almost one foot last week and is at 990 ft. above sea level and 98 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 70-73 degrees. All ramps are in the water. Angels Boat Ramp is the shallowest ramp. It will come out of the water and be unusable (which often happens in the summer) when the water level drops below 975 ft. above sea level. The full moon has slowed kokanee and trout fishing......
