Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,381,541 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped almost one foot last week and is at 990 ft. above sea level and 98 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 70-73 degrees. All ramps are in the water. Angels Boat Ramp is the shallowest ramp. It will come out of the water and be unusable (which often happens in the summer) when the water level drops below 975 ft. above sea level. The full moon has slowed kokanee and trout fishing......

Calaveras County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will intermittently close State Route 4 (SR-4) from Rolleri Bypass Road to Six Mile Creek/Six Mile Road in Calaveras County. Work will occur on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Crews will be clearing boulders for the construction of the bypass.......

Angels Camp, CA...At approximately 1400 hrs the majority of the rides at Calaveras County Fair were officially re-opened. The remainder of the rides continue to be inspected by Cal OSHA. All other scheduled events will continue. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office has completed their Industrial Accident report of the ride collapse, which was investigated by Sheriff Detectives and Sheriff Patrol staff. This report does not include findings regarding the cause of....

Frogtown, CA.... During the four days of fair, six competitors from Calaveras County sang their hearts out for the title of Calaveras Idol 2008. The participants sang numerous numbers from various artists that wowed their audiences. The second round took place at 4pm on Saturday. Singers were judged by the Miss Calaveras 2008 and 1st runner up and also a Saddle Queen contestant.....
