FIRE NEWS.....Grass Fire Reported at Glory Hole (Updated) |

Angels Camp, CA...Fire Crews are responding to a grass fire being reported near the Glory Hole boat ramp. More to come..... (Update)Resources are being released now as the fire is being mopped up and they have it under control. The total damage is 2-3 acres. In speaking with personnel on scene it appears that this fire may have been sparked by crews doing weed control.

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors kicked off their June Meetings with a session that lasted just over 3 hours. Mountain Lions even made the show. In addition to the normal items that attracted attention one seemingly minor item took up a large portion of the discussion time. The county was looking at trying to save about $17,000 in general fund money by eliminating 1/2 of a position. From the discussions it seems that this may be $17,000 that needs to be cut elsewhere. San Andreas, CA...One of the items on the Calaveras County Council of Governments Meeting agenda was the unveiling and launching of a new promotional tool to help market the new Foothill Ride Share program that helps match people with similar commuting needs. The CCOG's Tyler Summerset handled the unveiling and also said they are already getting calls on the program because of their new Toyota. The Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency (ATCAA) has secured a $250,000 grant from the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) to help five rural Sierra counties improve high speed Internet access for all households and businesses. The one-year project, called ATCAA Central Sierra Connect, will launch with the first meeting of the project Advisory Council in the morning and a community forum at Ironstone Vineyards June 12 from 1-4 pm. The community is invited to come to learn about the project and how they can get involved in the one-year work plan......
