Washington, DC... As the U.S. surpasses 26 million COVID-19 infections, President Biden took additional steps today to implement his comprehensive National Strategy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. These steps include increasing the vaccine supply to states, Tribes, and territories and increasing funding to jurisdictions to help turn vaccines into vaccinations. And, the President announced that starting next week, the first phase of the federal pharmacy program will launch and select pharmacies nationwide will start offering vaccinations for their communities.

On January 20th, the Biden Harris Administration took the first steps in a broad, whole of government effort to finally reform our immigration system, including sending to Congress legislation that creates a pathway to citizenship for the nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants living in and contributing to our country. Today, the Administration is announcing a series of additional actions it is taking to rebuild and strengthen our immigration system.

Big Sur, CA...Highway 1 south of Big Sur near Big Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 30 remains CLOSED until further notice due to washout of the roadway after heavy rains and winds pelted the coast. Our crews and contractor have secured the area with damage assessment underway. The town of Big Sur is OPEN and accessible from the north (Carmel). The south end remains closed at Ragged Point.

San Andreas, CA...Sand Bag Location Added in West Point so Calaveras County now has Sand Bags and Sand Available for Residents at 10 Locations. In preparation of the heavy rain and potential flooding predicted for this week the Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services and Public Works Department have stocked the following locations with sand bags and sand. Please limit the number of sand bags to 10 per resident and remember to bring your own shovel.
