President Joe Biden on Armenian Remembrance Day

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/24/2021 02:19 PM
Washington, DC...Each year on this day, we remember the lives of all those who died in the Ottoman-era Armenian genocide and recommit ourselves to preventing such an atrocity from ever again occurring. Beginning on April 24, 1915, with the arrest of Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople by Ottoman authorities, one and a half million Armenians were deported, massacred, or marched to their deaths in a campaign of extermination. We honor the victims of the Meds Yeghern so that the horrors of what happened are never lost to history. And we remember so that we remain ever-vigilant against the corrosive influence of hate in all its forms.

Caitlyn Jenner Files Initial Paperwork to Run for Governor of California

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/23/2021 07:28 AM
Los Angeles County, CA...Caitlyn Jenner today filed paperwork to run for Governor of California. Visit CaitlynJenner.com to follow her campaign to get California moving in the right direction as more updates will be announced in the coming weeks. "California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.

Washington, DC...April 21, 2021, Mr. Speaker: We are way beyond any question of whether we face a border crisis – the question now is whether we have a border at all. When I put that question directly to the President of the Border Patrol, his answer was an emphatic NO.

Plan Ahead: What to Expect in 2021 When Visiting the Eldorado National Forest

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/23/2021 01:17 PM
Placerville, CA...The Eldorado National Forest is busy getting ready for the upcoming visitor season. Exciting upgrades to many developed recreation sites are underway or have been recently completed by our partners Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and El Dorado Irrigation District (EID). These companies manage reservoirs and support recreation facilities throughout the forest which are part of their licensed hydroelectric power generation projects. These projects provide water storage, renewable energy and a vast number of recreational opportunities. Many of these recreation facilities are operated by another partner, Royal Elk Park Management (REPM), a forest concessionaire that oversees and maintains multiple sites under a Special Use Permit. As you can see, along with forest recreation staff, there is a large team working to make your visit safe and enjoyable! Recreation site closures while improvements are being made, changes in user fees, and updates to the reservation system are important things visitors should know prior to their visit in 2021.
