Fertility & Birth Rates Reach All Time Lows. Lockdown Baby Surge Didn't Happen!

Atlanta, GA...Many experts expected pregnancies to rise with more couples spending time at home. According to the latest numbers from the CDC it didn't happen. This could put a cloud on future financial models if population numbers flatten or decline. From the CDC.."The provisional number of births for the United States in 2020 was 3,605,201, down 4% from 2019. The general fertility rate was 55.8 births per 1,000 women aged 15–44, down 4% from 2019 to reach another record low for the United States. The total fertility rate was 1,637.5 births per 1,000 women in 2020, down 4% from 2019 to also reach another record low for the nation.

As California Surpasses 30 Million Vaccines, Governor Newsom Doubles Down on Efforts to Vaccinate Hard-to-Reach Communities

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom announced a series of initiatives building on the state’s work to vaccinate California’s hard-to-reach communities against COVID-19, address vaccine hesitancy and drive innovative efforts in the communities hardest hit by the pandemic. New efforts focus on direct appointment assistance; community outreach including neighborhood canvassing, phone banking and text banking; at-home vaccinations and transportation services; and an additional $33 million in funding, bringing the total to $85.7 million, to support community-based organizations.

ABC Makes Arrest in Fraudulent COVID-19 Vaccination Card Case

Clements, CA...Agents of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) have arrested the owner of the Old Corner Saloon in Clements on charges of selling fraudulent COVID -19 vaccination cards. ABC opened an investigation after receiving a complaint that fraudulent cards were being sold at the bar located at 18783 East California Highway 88 in Clements. Undercover agents were able to purchase the fraudulent cards at Old Corner Saloon on multiple occasions in April.

Caltrans Traffic Advisory One-Way Traffic Control on State Route 88

Amador County, CA... – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will employ one-way traffic control next week at two locations on State Route 88. Crews will continue curb, gutter and sidewalk work from Route 88/Route 49 to Broadway Street from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 2, through Friday, May 7, 2021; and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, through Friday, May 7, 2021. Workers will perform highway construction from Wagon Wheel Drive to Shake Ridge Road from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, through Friday, May 7, 2021.

Work will be conducted as follows: STATE ROUTE 4: From the Old Highway Connector (end of bypass) to Red Hill Road from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. beginning Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 5, 2021. STATE ROUTE 26: From Railroad Flat Road to Barney Way from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Stanislaus National Forest Seeks Public Comment on New Christmas Tree Permit for 2021 Holiday Season

Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest is proposing a new recreation fee to sell Christmas tree permits to the public beginning in November 2021. The permit would allow forest visitors to harvest their own Christmas tree on public lands of the Stanislaus National Forest. Fourth grade students who participate in the Every Kid Outdoors program may obtain a free Christmas tree permit.
