Nonfarm Payrolls Surged by 850,000 Jobs in June

Washington, DC...Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 850,000 in June, and the unemployment rate was little changed at 5.9 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, public and private education, professional and business services, retail trade, and other services.

NSA, Partners Release Cybersecurity Advisory on Brute Force Global Cyber Campaign

Fort Meade, MD...The National Security Agency (NSA), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) released a Cybersecurity Advisory today exposing malicious cyber activities by Russian military intelligence against U.S. and global organizations, starting from mid-2019 and likely ongoing.  This advisory is being released as part of NSA's routine and continuing cybersecurity mission to warn network defenders of nation state threats.

Senate Republicans Champion Gas Tax Relief as CA Rates Climb to 51 Cents a Gallon

Sacramento, CA...Starting today, California drivers will pay more at the pump when another hike in the state gas tax takes effects. At a time when the state is experiencing a historic surplus and highest in the nation gas prices, Senate Republicans proposed a Holiday Gas Tax for the fiscal year which would give taxpayers a break by using the massive budget surplus to pay for infrastructure projects usually funded by the gas tax.

Governor Newsom Meets with Emergency Officials Responding to Lava Fire

Weed, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom traveled to Siskiyou County yesterday where he was briefed by fire and emergency management officials responding to the Lava Fire, which has burned more than 13,300 acres. Earlier today, the state secured federal assistance to help ensure the availability of vital resources to combat the fire, which has forced evacuations in the communities of Lake Shastina and Juniper Valley. The Governor also visited the Craggy Fuel Break, a joint fuel reduction project between the U.S. Forest Service, the state and local entities.
