On July 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., the general public is invited to attend a special ceremony to celebrate the launch of the new Yosemite Quarter. This historic special event will take place in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and the public is highly encouraged to participate in the festivities. There will be live music, special guest speakers, and children under the age of 18 at the event will receive a free Yosemite Quarter to commemorate this special day. Sonora, CA....“The Hottest Little Fair in California is a Gold Country Keepsake” The Mother Lode Fair begins Friday July 9th through Sunday July 11th. The Mother Lode Fair is located in the beautiful foothill town of Sonora on historic State Route 49. The Fair began in 1889 as the Tuolumne County Fair & Horse Show, then reinvented itself in 1938 as the Mother Lode Fair. The Fair today is situated on 25 acres, edged with lawns and bordered with a year-round creek. Two hundred trees add scenic value to this garden setting, making the fairgrounds an event destination to an estimated 274,000 visitors throughout the year. The Mother Lode Fair provides our community event programming and a facility that enhances the quality of life in Tuolumne County. This year's fair features returning favorites such as the demolition derby, carnival, vendors, live entertainment and more. Yoder was being followed by witnesses who reported him to be driving at varying speeds between 40 and 80 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone. The Groveland Ranger District will conduct the Jenkins Underburn project on, or about Monday, June 28, 2010, depending on weather conditions, fuel moisture, and air quality. A total of 13 acres is to be treated with low to moderate intensity fire. The project is located approximately 9 miles southeast of the community of Greeley Hill, along Forest Road 2S05. The project is designed to reduce the invasion of noxious weeds, and to improve forest protection by reducing flammable underbrush....
