Multi-Agency emergency response Training exercise held at Columbia College |

| Columbia College had a full-scale emergency response training exercise held on campus on May 26, 2010. This training was designed to test preparedness, teamwork and communications. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department led a multi-county/multi-agency training exercise on campus which included members from Tuolumne and Calaveras law enforcement, fire, and medical response agencies. The teams included SWAT, Fire, EMT’s, and Ambulance; however, Air-Medical had to withdraw due to the weather conditions. The intent of the training exercise was to familiarize emergency response personnel with Columbia College and improve their response to emergency situations. ..... |

JAMESTOWN, Calif. - Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is continuing the tradition to recognize Father's Day with a special offer just for dads. On Father's Day only (Sunday, June 20), all fathers accompanied by one or more children can ride Railtown's regular excursion trains for free! Railtown's excursion trains will depart this day from the Railtown Depot, on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The six-mile, 40-minute roundtrip ride takes passengers through the rolling Gold Country foothills, passing through meadows and along grassy hillsides covered with ancient oak trees. Wildflowers are in full bloom and offer outstanding scenic opportunities along the route.....

Sonora, CA....We covered this event as it was happening last evening. We have received the CHP Release..On May 23, 2010 at approximately 2115 hours, Victim One Donna Modrell, was driving her 2007 GMC Yukon, eastbound on Hwy 108 west of Montezuma Junction and was the last car of a four car group. Victim Two Stacey Knight was driving her 2004 Mitsubishi eastbound on Hwy 108 west of Montezuma Junction and was the lead car of the four car group. An unknown subject threw a rock at passing traffic and struck Victims Two's Vehicle. A second large rock (approximately 7 inches long by three inches wide) was thrown into the air by the subject or subjects. The rock thrown at the Yukon struck Donna Modrell causing major injuries and rendering her disabled.... |

Sonora’s first and only women’s flat track roller derby team, the High Country Hellcats, win first bout of the 2010 inaugural season. The bout was held Saturday May 15th, 2010 against the Merced Rollin Roulettes. FINAL SCORE: 131-107. This event was held on Saturday May 15, 2010 at Roller Land in Merced, CA.

Twain Harte, CA..A light was turned on which ignited a birds nest and caused a minor fire at 22544 Middle Camp Road in Twain Harte on May 19th, 2010. Damages incurred were $500. Full Cal Fire report enclosed....

Jamestown, CA...Widely known as the “movie star locomotive,” the famed Sierra No. 3 is set to ride the rails again at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) in Jamestown on the upcoming Fourth of July weekend. The 1891 vintage steam locomotive is returning to service following an extensive restoration effort costing one and a half million dollars—and the public is invited to its debut!
