Tuolumne, CA...Around 3:30 Friday morning, Deputies were called to a home on Silver Spur Drive in Tuolumne for a reported assault. 41-year-old Joshua Conner had choked a 65-year-old man leaving him unconscious. One of our Sergeants caught Conner driving on Silver Spur Drive. Conner drove directly towards the Sergeant’s patrol car. The Sergeant was forced to jump out of his vehicle to avoid being hit by Conner’s SUV. Instead of complying with orders to stop, Conner slammed on his brakes and stopped briefly before spinning his tires and taking off at a high rate of speed. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate him.

Tuolumne County, CA...Drainage Project to Provide Safer, More Comfortable Ride for Tourists, Residents and Big Rigs. Next week, Caltrans will begin work to replace four culverts on rural State Route 108 in the Sierra Nevada. The $731,000 project is funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. The six-month project will replace a culvert near Donnell Lake and three others by the Tuolumne/Mono County line. The work will improve Caltrans’ ability to safely and efficiently transport water and debris away from the highway to minimize flooding and provide more comfortable trips for travelers. “Highway 108 is a popular route for spring and summer travelers who want to explore the mountains,” said Caltrans Director Laurie Berman. “By supporting tourism, we strengthen California’s economy as well as the quality of life in many small towns and communities.”

Twain Harte Memorial Day Parade |

Twain Harte, CA...It is time to dress in your Red, White and Blue and make sure to bring your flag to wave. This is the day when we honor our military personnel; both those who are serving and those who have served. The day starts off with a small military parade who present the colors followed by a presentation and the changing of the flag. Each year we honor a local veteran by dedicating the flag raising in there name and that name is added to the plaque sitting at the base of the flag pole. It is always a very moving ceremony and we would encourage everyone to come out to this event. The day continues with a hot dog feed at Eproson Park so don’t miss out on the fun. Come join the community of Twain Harte as we honor our military veterans.
