Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today issued the following statement regarding the death of Barstow Fire Protection District Engineer David Spink: “Jennifer and I join all those mourning the tragic loss of veteran firefighter David Spink, who was fatally injured in the line of duty. On behalf of all Californians, we extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and colleagues at this difficult time. Engineer Spink’s legacy lives on in the community he served for over three decades and through his son Dallen, who has followed in his footsteps at the Barstow Fire Protection District.”

36 Year Old Modesto Man Loses Life in Head on Collision on Hwy 120 |

Jamestown, CA...On January 8, 2022 at approximately 5:30pm, a 36-year-old man from Modesto was driving a 2013 Hyundai sedan westbound on State Route 120, west of La Grange Road at a high rate of speed approaching the rear of a 2007 Subaru SUV that was being driven by 53-year-old Chunli Yao of Pleasanton. At that same time, 55-year-old Ronnie Henley of Waterford was driving his 1999 Ford pickup truck eastbound on State Route 120, west of La Grange Road. The 36-year-old man attempted to pass Mr. Yao, over the double yellow line directly in the path of Mr. Henley.

Tuolumne Man Loses His Life in Vehicle vs Motorcycle Collision |

Sonora, CA...On January 10, 2022, at approximately 4:36pm, 40-year-old Jamie Fernandez of Sonora was driving a 2006 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Mono Way, just west of State Route 108, within the number 1 lane. At that same time, a 66-year-old man from Tuolumne was riding a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on Mono Way, within a designated left turn lane, making a left turn toward State Route 108. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, as one failed to stop for a red traffic signal. As a result, the front of the Jeep Cherokee crashed into the front of the Kawasaki motorcycle.

San Andreas, CA...Scott J. Hermann 2/27/1970 - 1/8/2022. Scott Jeffery Hermann, 51, longtime resident of San Andreas, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 27, 1970 in San Jose, CA to Richard and Priscilla Hermann and was the youngest of three sons. In 1974, he moved to San Andreas where he remained. Scott graduated from Gold Strike High School and completed a course in welding at Columbia College. He did a lot of welding work in downtown Sonora and went on to work his own landscaping business where he held a reliable clientele. He took much pride in his work ethic and his clients always had good things to say about the quality of his work. In 1992, he welcomed his beautiful daughter, Sharee. He was an artist and his hobbies included skateboarding, listening to Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Ozzy Osbourne, and watching nature documentaries. Scott valued determination, humility, and open-mindedness, and will be missed. He is survived by his daughter, Sharee; brothers, Rick and Dan; his parents; and many extended family members and good friends. Friends are invited to share Scott’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Turner Park in San Andreas, CA.
