San Andreas, CA...It was a fairly short meeting at just under 2 hours. The PATV video starts about a minute into the meeting right after the pledge of allegiance due to an audio problem. Valley Springs, CA...We will be starting our debate tonight at about 7:10pm...We had a bit of trouble getting an IP address for the webcasting machine. It is up now so at 7:15pm we go live. We are streaming now and the replay will be up later. We would like to thank the Terrace Shopping Center and Common Grounds for the facilities tonight. We would also like to thank those who stopped by this evening. We held the debate in a vacant area in the shopping center so we could have a quiet area for webcasting and still have it close to District 5. We would like to thank the candidates for participating!!! We tried to be fair and still leave the candidates room to address each other directly. It was an honor to have the candidates address you the viewers and each other for an hour and 45 minutes. The replay is enclosed...

San Andreas, CA...It was another over 5 hour long meeting. In additions to the usual public comments and other matters the Joint Powers Agreement and the Calaveras County Council of Governments and it's operational scope were the subject of much discussion. Much of this has stemmed from some in the County and City Governments who think the CCOG has ventured into planning areas that are traditionally served by the planning and public works depts. They also discussed the best road alignments for entrance and egress from the new Criminal Justice Center. The complete meeting and summary are enclosed...

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting had a decidedly budgety flavor. The SEIU contract with the County was approved with an under 5% cut to their pay. The law enforcement unions have yet to finalize their contract but it appears that approval is immanent. Calaveras CAO Jeanne Boyce earned high marks from several Dept. Heads including outgoing Sheriff Dennis Downun. He praised the budget office for making the process efficient and timely to get through even if the outcome was still unpleasant in many ways because of the shrinking numbers...

Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting Summary and Video for August 24, 2010

San Andreas, CA...Last weeks Board Meeting Weighed in at about 9 hours and had enough twists and turns to make the Board and the public glad for a one week reprieve before the next meeting. The details are as follows and the summary and video is enclosed... RESOLUTION approving the filing of an application for a Sustainable Communities Planning Grant. Approved as amended, 3-2-0; Noes: Tofanelli and Tryon on a 4-0 vote, with Supervisor Tryon abstaining. The Board authorized County Counsel to proceed with a claim for the costs of law enforcement services provided to the 39th District Agriculture Association in connection with the Further Concert. The Board voted 5-0 for adopting the Arnold Rim Trail-Cedar Center Connection Project as a County project and directing Public Works to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the Calaveras Council of Governments and the United States Forest Service to establish responsibilities consistent with the draft MOU. They accepted a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration, in the amount of $396,692, for the Airport 22-Unit T-Hanger Project, and authorize the County Administrative Officer to sign the grant agreement and any future related documents – approve 5-0.
