Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting Summary and Video for August 24, 2010

San Andreas, CA...Last weeks Board Meeting Weighed in at about 9 hours and had enough twists and turns to make the Board and the public glad for a one week reprieve before the next meeting. The details are as follows and the summary and video is enclosed... RESOLUTION approving the filing of an application for a Sustainable Communities Planning Grant. Approved as amended, 3-2-0; Noes: Tofanelli and Tryon on a 4-0 vote, with Supervisor Tryon abstaining. The Board authorized County Counsel to proceed with a claim for the costs of law enforcement services provided to the 39th District Agriculture Association in connection with the Further Concert. The Board voted 5-0 for adopting the Arnold Rim Trail-Cedar Center Connection Project as a County project and directing Public Works to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the Calaveras Council of Governments and the United States Forest Service to establish responsibilities consistent with the draft MOU. They accepted a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration, in the amount of $396,692, for the Airport 22-Unit T-Hanger Project, and authorize the County Administrative Officer to sign the grant agreement and any future related documents – approve 5-0.

Valley Springs, CA....Residents of Valley Springs were invited to attend a public meeting held by Supervisor Gary Tofanelli and Supervisor Russ Thomas, Calaveras County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday evening at the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial Hall. Some heated topics were discussed such as The Cosgrove Creek (Flood Mitigation and Creek Maintenance) along with the Valley Springs Community Plan Update. Representatives from the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers provided a presentation....

San Andreas, CA..It was a total of 5 plus hours of meetings and study sessions at yesterday's Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting. Most of the agenda items moved forward. The County is officially "Neutral on Medical Marijuana, CHIPS & Alaska Hot Shots Clean Up BLM Land in District Two, Noise Ordinance Study Sessions, 12 & 26 Study Session, T-Hangers for the Airport, Friends of the Library, The Law Library Now has Wi-Fi and much more. Public Comments had some of the usual cast of characters with Joe Kelly, Terry "The Chicken Man" Baker, Bonnie Newman and more...

San Andreas, CA...After much discussion all of the items passed on yesterday's agenda. Some of the high points were acknowledging the Calaveras Visitors Bureau for being awarded a gold ribbon for the County's Booth at the 2010 State Fair, recognizing Phil Ross for his "31" years of service for Calaveras County and one of the most vocal items of the day was discussion of a Sustainable Communities Planning Grant. San Andreas, CA...A Quick update on today's BOS meeting...The Board unanimously passed the Preliminary Budget for 2010/11 this morning. The Housing Element to the General Plan was also approved 4/1, with Tom Tryon voting against. Complete Meeting Video Enclosed
