CCWD Awards Two Scholarships Celebrating the Value of Water

San Andreas, CA...Each year, the Calaveras County Water District awards two high school seniors with $500 scholarships. The students earn the scholarships by writing an essay about the value of water. The winners of the 2018 CCWD Scholarship Awards are: Claudia Loomis, Angels Camp, who graduated from Bret Harte High School and plans to pursue a degree in political science at Columbia College. Sierra Stephens, Arnold, who graduated from Bret Harte High School and plans to attend Montana State University to study computer science.

Planned Water Outage in Copperopolis, Wednesday August 22

Copperopolis, CA...Calaveras County Water District crews are planning to repair a leak in a main water line on Copper Cove Drive at 9 p.m. Wednesday August 22, which will cause about 380 customers to experience a water outage for up to five hours. The District has scheduled a nighttime repair to minimize impacts on local businesses and homeowners. One-way traffic control will be in place on Copper Cove Drive starting at 8 p.m. on the 22nd. Water service is expected to be restored by 2 a.m. on Thursday August 23.

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has presented an Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship to BHHS student, Nickolas Ratkovich. Nickolas received a $2,000 scholarship to begin his college studies in the Mechatronics/Electrical Technology field. Nicholas resides in San Andreas with proud parents Melissa & Peter Ratkovich.

FDA Approves First Generic Version of EpiPen

Washington, DC...The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first generic version of EpiPen and EpiPen Jr (epinephrine) auto-injector for the emergency treatment of allergic reactions, including those that are life-threatening (anaphylaxis), in adults and pediatric patients who weigh more than 33 pounds. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA gained approval to market its generic epinephrine auto-injector in 0.3 mg and 0.15 mg strengths.

San Andreas, CA...Throughout 2018, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has been actively recruiting new employees. This morning during a public Promotional / Hiring / Affirmation of Office Ceremony, Sheriff Rick DiBasilio proudly swore in a large group of recently hired or promoted Sheriff’s employees. The list included the promotion of one patrol sergeant, three corporals, two senior dispatchers and two correctional officer corporals.
