The 15th Annual Bear Valley Triathlon Awards Ceremony

Bear Valley, CA... Bear Valley Village was filled with the very fit this last weekend. On Sunday Morning a full field swam, biked and ran their way to the finish line. The men's overall winner was 42 year old David Jones from Danville and second overall was 50 year old...yes you read it right 50 year old Jeff Loutit from Los Altos. The Women's overall winner was 27 year old Lisa Hieb-Stock from Sonora. Congratulations to the winners and also to the "Old Guys" who swam, ran and cycled the wheels off some of their younger counterparts. After the race, Bear Valley Lodge hosted a post race BBQ lunch on the Creekside Patio. Video of Awards Ceremony by the pool and Official Results are enclosed...

Lake Alpine was the hot spot over Labor Day weekend. Fly fishermen faired the best. Fly casters should try caddis, sparrow nymphs, mosquitoes, mayflies, adams, and woolly buggers. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Glitter Bugs tipped with a nightcrawler behind a small dodger or flasher/nightcrawler combo.Bait casters should try salmon eggs, inflated nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Eggs, and Gulp Nightcrawlers. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Rapalas, and Panther Martin spinners....

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,486,742 acre-feet of water. The lake dropped 2 feet this week, and is currently 1001 ft. above sea level and 87 ft. from full capacity. Surface water temperature is about 79-84 degrees. Water is stained in the main lake with around 15 ft. visibility and strong mudlines near shore due to falling water levels....

Bear Valley, CA... We had the chance to with Mountain Adventure Seminar's, Aaron Johnson and Bear Valley Adventure Company's, Paul Peterson for a few minutes on Saturday. They hope to make the Adventure Festival a fixture on the Summer Calendar in Bear Valley for many years to come! They had over 80 entrants. The festival was filled with events for all kinds of outdoor activities. Mountain Biking, Cycling, Kayaking, Rock Climbing and more for all different skill and fitness levels. The event was billed as an adventure in human powered recreation....
