Lake Alpine has been recently planted and fishermen are catching fish. Bait casters should try Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Floating Power Eggs, Gulp Nightcrawlers, inflated nightcrawlers, and salmon eggs on a 24" to 30" leader using a sliding sinker. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, Glo Bugs, and Wedding Rings behind a small dodger tipped either with a nightcrawler or a Gulp Nightcrawler. Fly fishermen have been using woolly buggers, stone fly nymphs, ants, adams, stimulators and bead head nymphs....

Calaveras Swim Team hosted the Ione Marlins on Monday!

The Calaveras Swim Team Calaveras Pride swam against the Ione Marlins Monday. Calaveras did very well with over 30 1st place swimmers. Some of our first place winners were; Freestyle Sarah McGary, Beth Gibson, & Dana Jump. Backstroke; Sarah McGary, Dana Jump, Devon Ghio & Brittney Siria. Breaststroke; Joie Rawlins, Rebecca Conley, Wayne Batchelor, & Jacob Youngblood. Fly; Vanessa Ray & Brittney Siria. Our multiple event winners....

Calaveras Swim Team hosted the Murphys Dolphins on Wednesday!

The Calaveras County Swim Team Calaveras Pride swam against the Murphys Dolphins Wednesday. Calaveras did very well with over 60 percent of our swimmers placing in the top three. Some of our first place winners were; Freestyle Bowie Wood, Devon Ghio, Lucas Youngblood. Joie Rawlins & Wayne Batchelor 1st place Breaststroke. Vanessa Ray 1st place Freestyle & Breaststroke. Our multiple event winners are; Dana Jump 1st place Freestyle & Backstroke. Jessica Conley 1st place Freestyle, Fly and IM. Calaveras also....

Murphys Dolphins vs. Calaveras Pride Swim Meet Held on Wednesday

The Murphys Dolphins swam against a new Calaveras County team on Wednesday afternoon, Calaveras Pride. The Murphys Dolphins did very well. Among some of the winners are: Left to right: Nicole Huddy, Riley Preston, Erika Rasmusen & Haley Warner. Calaveras Pride took 1st place in both the Free Relay and Medley Relay.

When heading up Hwy 4 take a right when you get to the Dorrington Hotel and head 3-4 miles down to the Stanislaus River. A great stop awaits you that has something for everyone,. Camping, Picnicking, Hiking, Fishing, 4x4 Trails, Mountain Biking and low traffic paved roads to test your climbing skills on your road bike...

Ebbetts Pass is now open. Lake Alpine is now on the Plant list and is to be planted this week. The Lodge at Lake Alpine is now open and can be contacted at 209-753-6358. The phone number for the campgrounds is 209-753-2671. New Melones Fishing Report for June 8th, 2009~By Glory Hole Sports

Trout: bank anglers should head to the creeks, such as Angels or Murphys Creek, and use Power Bait or Pautski's fire eggs. Trollers are much more likely to catch kokanee right now, but we are seeing nice rainbows in mixed trout/kokanee limits. Most have been caught on kokanee rigs. As a rule, trout are 10 feet shallower than kokanee. Trollers should use shad or rainbow trout-patterned lures such as Needlefish, Kastmasters, Excel spoons, or a crawler/spinner combo from 20-30 feet deep over deep water in the main river channel upriver and in the main lake for rainbows. For browns, troll Rapala Countdowns or Trophy Sticks in rainbow trout or shad patterns, or roll shad, 50-60 feet deep (in the same areas, but closer to structure)......

Ebbetts Pass is now open. It was a busy Memorial weekend with aot of nice fish caught. Spicer is now OPEN. There are still snow drifts along the road so be careful as you drive in. Hobart Creek is off limits to fishing until July 1st. Lake Alpine has thawed and they are clearing the snow around the lake. Lake Alpine Lodge officially opened this past weekend. You can contact the Lodge at 209-753-6358. The campgounds are also being cleared. The campground phone number is 209-753-2671.....
