Nevada City's Alexander Rossi Crosses Finish Line On fumes To Take 100th Running Of Indy 500 ~ IndyCar

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/29/2016 03:11 PM
Indianapolis, IN...Alexander Rossi wrote his name in the history books in the most amazing of ways, winning the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.  Running dangerously close to running out of fuel after stretching his 18.5 gallons of ethanol for 36 laps, Rossi all but coasted the final lap but still crossed the finish line 4.4975 seconds ahead of teammate Carlos Munoz to win the historic running of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing." It was the first Verizon IndyCar Series victory for the rookie in his sixth race and he is the first rookie to win the Indianapolis 500 since Helio Castroneves in 2001.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/19/2016 02:44 PM
Angels Camp, CA...Behind most great organizations there is invariably one or two people who are the driving force to see that progress is made and plans come to fruition. Behind Bret Harte’s beautiful facilities and sports venues that many colleges would be proud to have that driving force has been and is Tony Tyrrell. From walking the halls in the state capital in search of grants and contributions to getting bond measures on ballots and endless fundraising he has done it all. It has never been about Tony but always about the school, it’s students and the community as a whole.

What Life Lessons Can We Learn From The Warriors 73-9 Season?

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/13/2016 11:11 PM
Oakland, CA...The Warriors made history tonight as the best regular season team in history. They also displayed lessons for the rest of us. Yes it takes talent and some of us start with more than others, but the Warriors and Curry have shown more than that. They have taken unselfish, team oriented, basketball and taken it to another level. The Warriors' passing, defense, assists and creating shots for others are skills this team has developed into an art form.

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/30/2016 09:36 AM
Bear Valley, CA...The 11th Annual Slush Cup, a fun ski race benefitting the Bear Valley Snowsports Education Foundation (BVSEF), will be held on Sunday, April 10th at Bear Valley Mountain. This BVSEF fundraiser event is open to the public to participate and designed for a rider’s skill level to be an intermediate and above. Almost always true to the name, the Slush Cup will be a slushy snow condition head-to-head racing event historically held under warm and sunny skies on Sunday of the ski area’s closing weekend. Each year the Slush Cup provides a competitive throw down for alpine skiers, snowboarders and Telemark enthusiasts. There are various age groups for both Male and Female categories in each discipline based on being an alpine or non-alpine competitor and the fastest run of the Finals declares the winner in each division.
