Letter to the The Editor~ by Chopper & Ladybug

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 02/21/2011 10:26 AM
Dear Editor, I wish I had some of those blue ribbons to hand out after our power outage. Our neighbor's reached out to each other to make sure everyone was o.k. If it meant extra hands to shovel and get fire wood, they were right there. If it meant clearing a driveway, again, so someone could come home from the hospital, they were there......

Letter to the Editor~By The Calaveras Humane Society

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 02/06/2011 01:36 PM
Editor, One week ago the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department rescued ten horses from living in deplorable conditions. Pictures in newspapers, on the internet and on television painted a clear picture of the conditions in which these animals suffered. The Calaveras Humane Society is proud of the actions of the Sheriff’s department, Sgt Laurie Murray and the Animal Control officers in rescuing these horses and placing them in a secure, healthy and caring environment. We also thank Re Horse Rescue in Tuolumne County for moving the horses to that safe environment......

Letter to The Editor~by Jami Southard, daughter of Man Killed by Pit Bulls Last Year

First, let me thank you for the story you did...we appreciate all the stories out there, most of them anyway, my dad was much loved & honored, a much decorated vietnam vet who did 3 tours. He was extremely fit for his age & those dogs tore him up. It was painfully obvious that he fought hard for his life. Sheryl is pleading not guilty, after all my dad did for her, she is prolonging our need for closure. There have been 4 continuances just for the pre-lim!! People in the DA's office have told me that ....

Letter to the Editor on Calaveras Unified Schools ~by Mark Campbell

Letter to the Editor, A component of the budget proposed by Governor Jerry Brown is a possible ballot measure that would extend taxes (including income and sales taxes) that are currently in place. The purpose of this letter is not to persuade any voter in any particular direction. However, it is important that you are aware of the potential impact on Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD), should the proposed tax extensions be eliminated.....

Dear Editor, We were in Sonora today for errands, etc. and were happy to see the truck from Re-Horse Rescue in the parking lot. I went in to OSH and asked around to find the wonderful people who helped save the horses last week. It didn't take long at all. I gave her our profound thanks for taking the horses in. I reached in to my wallet to give her all I had, a ten dollar bill. She says that will buy 2 bales of hay. It isn't much but it was enough to let them know they did something very special. We exchanged hugs and I told her that what they did was very extraordinary. So, if you have an extra ten dollars, send it their way and know it will buy 2 bales of hay.....

"On Friday January 28, just over a year after my initial arrest, my case has finally settled. I was originally charged with three felonies after I sold an ounce of marijuana to an undercover officer posing as a medical patient. The case has ended with me pleading guilty to a misdemeanor. I have been found guilty of violating Section 32 of the penal code, which basically says that I am guilty of having knowledge that a felony was committed by another person......

A Letter of Gratitude~by Bertha Underhill

We can’t give enough “THANKS” to Mike Steineke and his crew from the Vallecito Conservation Camp for the hard work and effort they have put into the overall beautiful maintenance of White Pines Park and the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum. While we depend on volunteer’s time for daily upkeep and spring cleaning, Mike and his crew have the time and ability to tackle the large projects such as taking down dangerous trees, cleaning brush out creeks, taking care of major burn piles, keeping overgrowth from the lake and helping to build walking trails. In addition to these Calaveras County Water District .....

Congressional Reform Act of 2011...The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. Congressional Reform Act of 2011...

Copperopolis, CA....Copper Cove HOA locks out members from the Kiva (a common area) and breaks the law in the process. California Civil Code 1361.5 say’s: Civil Code §1361.5. Association Cannot Deny Owner Access. It reads....Except as otherwise provided in law, an order of the court, or an order pursuant to a final and binding arbitration decision, an association may not deny an owner or occupant physical access to his or her separate interest, either by restricting access through the common areas to the owner's separate interest, or by restricting access solely to the owner's separate interest.....

WHEN WILL YOU EVER LEARN - CRAIG TURCO & JACK LYNCH? An Open Letter to the Residents of Angels Camp: This is not a personal attack on Jack Lynch and Craig Turco. It is about their performance while serving on the City Council. Jack Lynch and Craig Turco’s performance as City Council members is absolutely pitiful. First off, the Sierra Sentinel called Lynch, Turco, and Downey “the Three Amigos”. Many of the residents in Angels Camp are calling the three of them “the Three Stooges”. During the run up to Election Day in Angels Camp, many residents throughout Angels Camp were saying “I hope we are not going to get “LYNCHED” for another four years.” Well, the residents ......
