Vicious Dog Kills Ex Marine. Letter to the Editor~by John Alfred

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/26/2010 06:08 PM
Mountain Ranch, CA – Community rallies together to change county vicious dog laws. Jerry Yates, a resident of Mountain Ranch was mauled by two pit bulls on Aug. 22, 2010. The dogs belonged to an employee living on his property, Sheryl Sellers. Sellers plead not guilty to felony charges of knowingly having a mischievous animal, letting it be at large or keeping it without ordinary care, resulting in the death of a human being. There is speculation that Sellers may have been cited for having vicious dogs in the past. ..

Open letter to the Board of Supervisors. Letter To The Editor ~ By Cory Burnell

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/24/2010 07:16 AM
Dear Supervisors, A Mr. Sherman from San Andreas spoke about the U.S. Constitution before the Board of Supervisors on 8/24. While his ignorance could usually be dismissed as common, it was instead outrageous because he directed those who disagree with him to "go back" and do "research" after he had just butchered the document. So here's setting the record straight on the subject...

Letter to the Editor In Favor of Sustainability Grant~by Mary Boblet

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/23/2010 12:06 PM
"I hope for a 5-0 vote tomorrow at the Board of Supervisors meeting for approving the sustainability grant application. I can't say I was super active back when AB32 (our state's climate change law) was being debated and voted on - but that was then, this is now. AB32 is the law. What we do now is up to us. We can unite, take these grant funds and make them go to work for our local economy and our locally-held values (clean water, air, etc.). This is the chance we've been waiting for to hold that .....

Well now, It's about time. Calaveras looks for septic alternatives...In Alaska, with 4 ft. of permafrost, what can they do? In New Orleans, where the dead are buried above ground, what can they do? In Countries, where it is almost solid rock, what can they do? On tugboats, with a crew of 8, when in port, where only clean water discharge is allowed, what can they do? The answer is flush their toilets...

Dear Tea Party Member...by Michaelangelo Price posted on Saturday, 7 August 2010 from LA Progressive (www.laprogressive.com)...Despite the deaf ears upon which this falls, it must be stated clearly: My friends, neighbors, and I are liberals, but absolutely not Nazis. We’re democrats, but definitely not communists. We’re concerned with our society, but certainly not socialists. We’re patriots, but not for profit. We do critical thinking, not mindless criticism. Some of us are not Caucasian, but all of us are not ignorant bigots. Some of us are huggers, but not all of us are tree-huggers. Get it? We’re mixed and we’re positive. Those are our strengths.....

Letter to the Editor...."Socialism Now?"~by Albert J. Segalla

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 08/07/2010 11:25 AM
I tend to think of socialism as government enslavement of the people, violating their natural human rights to life, liberty and property. One of the problems of socialism is the creation of dependency on government for our important needs, such as housing, medical care, food etc. While it is good to have limited government for purposes of defending our natural rights, we all too often ask government to do so much more. We fail to realize that government produces nothing; it can only take from some to give to others. An excellent book on this is the classic: “The Law” by Fredric Bastiat. A must read as he clearly defined human rights.....

Letter to the Editor~by David Tunno of Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA...This is a story about the difference between the duties of a county government, indeed what it recognizes as its duties, versus how it performs against those measurements. In the end, the readers can determine if the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors (BOS), as currently constituted, reflects what the citizens of this county expect and need from that board. My wife and I chose Calaveras County as our new home last year partially on the view that it was a community one could feel a part of, including ......

"Is Socialism the New American Dream? Letter to The Editor ~by Al Segalla

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/25/2010 12:35 PM
"Is Socialism the New American Dream?.....I tend to think of socialism as government enslavement of the people, violating their natural human rights to life, liberty and property. Proponents of that system would more likely agree with the Wikipedia definition: “Socialism is an economic and political theory based on public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources.” One of the problems of socialism is the creation of dependency on government for our important needs, such as housing, medical care, food etc. While it is good to have limited government for purposes of defending our natural rights, we all too often ask government to do so much more. America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution By Angelo M. Codevilla from the July 2010 - August 2010 issue

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 07/24/2010 01:53 PM
This opinion piece was sent to us by a viewer..."As over-leveraged investment houses began to fail in September 2008, the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties, of major corporations, and opinion leaders stretching from the National Review magazine (and the Wall Street Journal) on the right to the Nation magazine on the left, agreed that spending some $700 billion to buy the investors' "toxic assets" was the only alternative to the U.S. economy's "systemic collapse." In this, President George W. Bush and his would-be Republican successor John McCain agreed with the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama. Many, if not most, people around them also agreed upon the eventual commitment of some 10 trillion nonexistent dollars in ways .....
