"Why Vote Yes On The New Jail"~From the Protect Calaveras Awareness Campaign

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/16/2007 10:27 PM
San Andreas, CA...Most of us that have lived in this county for a while have been protected by it’s serenity, it’s been a safe haven away from the crime and turmoil of the city. Well, now it’s time to return the favor. Our States justice system is crumbling and we as county citizens are, as usual, bearing the brunt of the negative impact. Due to overcrowding, we are releasing hundreds upon hundreds of inmates early every year. To quote the 2005 - 2006 Grand Jury report, this is causing “epidemic increases in drug and gang activity.”....

Thanks Everyone for Another Geat Campaign!!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/15/2007 07:36 AM
On behalf of a great number of us in the community we would like to say a Big Thank-You!! for all of the fire personnel's great efforts this year. We saw the high number of calls you fielded and you managed to keep us from the next "Big One" again this year. We know we dodged another bullet thanks you your efforts. This thank you is for not only CAL-FIRE but all of the fire protection districts and the inmate crews as well. Some of the highlights that came to mind were The Murray Fire, it had legs. it had plenty of fuel and it raised our fears for this season. Who could forget the Angels Camp fire with it's potential to really roll through populated neighborhoods. The Avery Fire that closed Hwy 4 for several hours. The "Pot Fire" and many, many more....

The Stanislaus National Forest's Calaveras Ranger District is planning to conduct a 300 acre prescribed burn, located approximately 2 miles northwest of Arnold, along Forest road 5N23. Depending on weather and fuel moisture conditions, ignition of the burn will start on October 17, 2007 and continue for several days. Benefits of this prescribed burn project include promoting forest health, reducing flammable vegetation, and protecting the public and firefighters, as well as providing an added measure of protection for the communities of Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, White Pines, Blue Lake Springs, Big Trees Village, Dorrington, and....

PROCLAMATION.... Suspending Burning Permits and Other Uses of Open Fire Modification

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 10/12/2007 03:30 PM
Due to the extreme menace of destruction by fire to life, improved property and natural resources caused by critical fire weather and acute dryness of vegetation; and/or fire suppression forces being heavily committed to control fires; and under authority vested in me by the Director of CAL FIRE as per section 4423.1 of the Public Resources Code, I herby suspend, except within incorporated cities and in the San Luis, San Benito-Monterey and Tuolumne-Calaveras units of CAL FIRE the privileges of burning by permit and other uses of open fire in the geographic area described as...
