$11,724,088 In Marijuana Siezed by Sheriff's Office in Latest Raids

San Andreas, CA...Summary of Raids by Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Team January 31st thru March 9th 2022. On January 31st ,2022, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation in the 6000 block of Michel Road in Mountain Ranch. At this location, marijuana was being cultivated inside a large metal shop structure on the property. Deputies seized 1,460 growing marijuana plants and over 20 pounds of processed marijuana. The estimated value of the seized marijuana exceeds $1,779,000. No suspects were contacted at the scene. Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit Honored for Their Service

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday at the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors regular meeting, Sheriff Rick DiBasilio, members of the Sheriff’s Office, and the Board of Supervisors presented a proclamation recognizing the commitment of the Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit for their hard work and dedication for the year 2021. Last year, Sheriff Volunteers dedicated over 11, 700 hours to the citizens of Calaveras County by staffing and operating Sheriff Sub-stations and assisting with public events throughout the county. Human resource is our greatest asset and employee recognition is a core value for our department. Thank you to our Sheriff Volunteers for their continued exemplary service.

Fred Westmoreland, 51 Dies After High Speed Chase & Officer Involved Shooting

Sonora, CA...On Saturday around 7:05 pm, dispatch received multiple reports of an intoxicated male subject who crashed his vehicle into the front of the Twain Harte, 7-11. Within approximately 15 minutes after the first call, Calfire first responders called TCSO dispatch requesting “Code 3,” emergency response by deputies. Calfire reported the driver of the vehicle was attempting to leave the scene while intoxicated and in possession of a revolver.

Sonora, CA...On Saturday at around 7:20 in the evening deputies responded to the area of 7-11 for a report of a vehicle crash into a building. The involved vehicle fled the scene leading deputies on a pursuit to the area of Edgemont Acres Road in Sonora where an officer involved shooting occurred.

Calaveras County Deputies Make an Arrest for Animal Cruelty

Copperopolis, CA...On March 10, 2022, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office became aware of a video that was circulating on the internet/social media which depicted a cat being inhumanely killed. The video had been distributed to the owner of the cat who then contacted law enforcement. The owner of the cat had been searching for the animal for over a week and had posted flyers throughout his community.
