Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement regarding today’s mass shooting in California’s state capital: “Sadly, we once again mourn the lives lost and for those injured in yet another horrendous act of gun violence. Suspect Dandrae Martin Arrested in K Street Shooting

Sacramento, CA...Investigators worked through the night into the early morning hours of April 4, 2022 processing the horrific K Street Shooting scene. During the preliminary processing of the scene, investigators located at least three buildings and three vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. Additionally, investigators recovered over 100 expended shell casings at the scene. Investigators have identified 26-year-old Dandrae Martin as a related suspect. Martin was arrested and booked for assault and illegal firearm possession charges. As the investigation progressed, Sacramento Police Department SWAT and detectives served search warrants at three residences in the area. During the execution of the search warrants, at least one handgun was recovered. No changes have been reported to the number of victims which is still known to be twelve surviving victims suffering from gunshot wounds ranging from minor to critical but stable and six deceased victims who were killed by gunfire. We want to thank the community for the overwhelming assistance that has been provided. To date, we have received over 100 video and/or photo files provided through the community evidence portal. We continue encourage community to use the community evidence portal to directly provide the department with photos/videos. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing all related evidence in this investigation to determine appropriate charges.

Mass Shooting in Sacramento this Morning. 15 Shot, 6 Deceased, Some Roads Remain Closed.

Sacramento, CA...Officers located at least 15 shooting victims, including 6 who are deceased. There will be a media staging area at 9th St/K St. 9th St to 13th St is closed between L St & J St as officers investigate a shooting with multiple victims. Conditions unknown at this time. Please avoid the area as a large police presence will remain and the scene remains active.

Sonora Man Arrested for Multiple Thefts Including Metal Detector & Golf Cart He Was Driving

Sonora, CA...On Saturday, Sonora Police arrested 22-year-old Joseph Alan Jennings of Sonora on felony theft charges. He is accused of taking a metal detector, tools, and other items from a garage on the 300 block of North Washington Street. On Friday, March 26, a neighbor's home surveillance video caught the crime on tape, prompting the victim to share the video with the Police Department. The following evening, a patrol sergeant stopped Jennings, who was operating a golf cart on Linoberg Street, and summoned the investigating officer to the scene. The officer was able to identify Jennings as the suspect in the previously reported theft and ultimately booked him for burglary.

Sacramento, CA...A first-generation Californian, Justice Guerrero hails from the Imperial Valley.  Justice Guerrero has extensive experience as an appellate justice, trial court judge, partner at a major law firm and Assistant U.S. Attorney.  Governor Gavin Newsom today swore in Justice Patricia Guerrero to the California Supreme Court – the first Latina Justice to serve on the bench of our state’s highest court. A highly regarded jurist, Justice Guerrero’s nomination to the court was unanimously confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments last week.
