San Andreas, CA...Steps to Kick Cancer, the Oct. 24 awareness event at Mark Twain Medical Center, is drawing widespread interest across Calaveras County and beyond. Limited seating still available for the complimentary luncheon, but is expected to reach capacity before the Oct. 20 deadline. The event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 754 5919 now for reservations. “The appearance of well known Sacramento television personality Tina Macuha has prompted reservations from residents outside Calaveras County, as well as overwhelming response from locals,” notes Planning Committee member Sandie Lema. Tina will share her personal journey as a ten year breast cancer survivor. She has appeared on CW 31’s Good Day Sacramento morning show since its inception and shared her battle with breast cancer with viewers over the years.

Murphys, CA...The 26th Annual Calaveras Grape Stomp presented by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance was held on October 5, 2019 in Murphys. The Grape Stomp in conjunction with the Street Fair on Main Street drew thousands of people to Murphys. It was a day of perfect weather, great competition & more. The winning stomp team was the father & son "Hatcher Winery" team of Matt & Sewell Hatcher with 24.14 pounds of juice. Second was "The Wright Stuff" with Greg & Brian Wright with 23.4 pounds of juice. Third was the "Grapeful Dead" team of Dale & Jennifer Marcum with 21.87 pounds of juice. This year's Costume Contest Winners were: 1st Place "Make America Grape Again" Bill Collins and John Gambertogilio from Burlingame, 2nd Place "Simply Red" Randy Gillmore and Nelson from Milliaire Winery Murphys, 3rd Place "Fabulous Weinsteins" Nancy Shaughnessy and Jan Hawley from San Francisco

Angels Camp, CA...The Mark Twain Wildwest Fest will close Hwy 49 through Historic Downtown Angels Camp on Saturday, October 19th, 2019. Hwy 49 will be closed from 8am to 6pm for all the fun in Historic Downtown Angels Camp. The Closure will be Hwy 49 at Sam’s Way (Utica Park) to Vallecito Road. Main Street OPEN to local traffic to Utica Park. Southbound detour will be Eastbound Highway 4 Bypass to Vallecito Road exit. Then Travel west on Vallecito Road to Highway 49/Main Street and vice versa.
