Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,450,598 acre-feet of water. The lake water level has been steady or risen very slightly for the past few weeks, and is at 997 ft. above sea level and 89 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 52-54 degrees. Water is stained in the creek channels, with around 8-12 ft. visibility. The main lake is gin clear, with approximately 15-20 ft. visibility. All ramps are in the water....

San Andreas, CA...As an inspiring kick-off for 2008, the Gallery Group of the Calaveras Arts Council will unveil its first ever “themed” show when the next show opens Friday, January 18. The exhibit titled “Life’s Journeys” will feature many artists’ interpretations of that theme. All works will be “new” creations in a variety of mediums. You can expect to see a wide range of subject matter that reflects childhood to the present, other stages of experiences, from travel to spirituality and beyond....

Bear Valley, CA...Now that you may have seen some of the great photos from Neil...we have some video of the fireworks shot by your humble servant from right outside the Bear Valley Lodge. The first part of this video is about seven minutes of fireworks coverage. The second part is of live music at Upper Crust Pizza. The band was great and the audience was sprinkled with Bear Valley dignitaries out shaking it on the floor. The Petersons from Bear Valley Cross Country and The Wegenstein's from the Bear Valley Resort Group were only some of the revelers moving in the new year....

Mountain Melody womens chorus is seeking additional singers for it's Spring season. This 19 member group was recently voted best musicians in Calaveras County in the Calaveras Enterprise. The have also sung in the Calaveras Arts Council's Ovations series. The chorus sings a variety of challenging songs and membership is by audition only.
