Murphys, CA...We recently had the pleasure to spend a few minutes watching Tonja Peterson roast batches of coffee for Gold Country Roasters. She brings an artist's touch and craftsman's skill to each batch. The temperature and duration of each batch is charted and reviewed to ensure the best tasting coffee for their customers. She roasts coffee for not only their Scott Street location but wholesale customers as well. Gold County Roasters has an almost 20 year history in Murphys with a loyal and growing following. One great benefit of small roasters is that they can be more adventurous in their coffees...

Wednesday, May 21st, 6:30 pm – 9pm at Outer Aisle Foods, 164 Highway 4, Murphys, CA, Gold Country Roasters and Outer Aisle Foods are co-sponsoring a FREE public educational event featuring two eminent experts in the field of sustainable coffee growing, who will discuss the shade grown coffee movement and the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center’s (SMBC) Bird Friendly® coffee certification program. The Bird Friendly® designation is the highest ecological sustainability certification that coffee can be awarded. Coffees that are certified Bird Friendly® are organically grown in strict accordance with rigorous standards developed and overseen by the SMBC. GCR’s new Bird Friendly-certified Peruvian coffee will be available to sample, along with light snacks provided by Outer Aisle Foods.

Gold Country Roasters offers wholesale and retail bulk coffee beans, espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea and Chai, pure fruit smoothies and fresh, locally made breakfast pastries and sweets. The shop and roastery at 78 Scott Street, Suite A, Murphys, is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8am to 5pm on the weekends, with indoors and outdoors seating available and free Wi-Fi for customers.
