Cowboy Singer, Dave Stamey, Comes To Town

Angels Camp, CA...Mike Fleming, Director of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival says “Dave Stamey is one of the best Western songwriters alive today. His melodies blend perfectly with his lyrics to the point where you can almost feel the wind against your face and smell the soft scent of the sage. He never fails to engage his audience and take them on a rewarding journey through the panorama of the West.” Jack Hannah of the Sons of the San Joaquin says Dave Stamey is “One of the most talented young songwriters in the country”. Mokelumne Hill, CA...ENCAUSTIC BASICS & BEYOND with artist Suzanne Bell is a one day encaustic workshop that focuses on the safety, studio set up, history of encaustics, and several encaustic painting techniques. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn how to fuse with iron, carve to define shapes, discover layers of color by scraping, and use tape for line and design. Students will also explore the use of various encaustic tools such as blow torches, heat guns, the stylus, oil sticks, and many more unique gadgets! Calaveras County Arts Council receives $1500 from Calaveras County Office of Education

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras Arts Council (CCAC) announces that the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) County Superintendent, Kathy Northington, awarded them $1500 to help fund their Arts in the School Program (aka Arts in Ed) for the 2013-2014 school year. This is not, however, a one year funding. CCOE is so supportive of the program that they have allocated funds annually for almost as long as the program has existed....
