Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2015 08:48 PM
San Andreas, CA...Pop Rules! That was the word uttered most during the 18th annual ArtSpirt High School Art Show & Competition. The feeling from the judges and visitors to the Gallery Store is that Erica’s work reflects the talent and technique of someone much beyond her teenage years. It captures the pop singers pose to a T...

Suzanne Bell's Encaustic Workshops at Petroglyphe Gallery on March 14 and 15

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/14/2015 10:19 AM
Mokelumne Hill, CA...Make it an Art Day in Mokelumne Hill . . . attend an encaustic workshop in the morning and then go to see the Amador and Calaveras Arts Council’s River Reflections Show in the afternoon at the Hotel Leger. Encaustic painting has been around since the Egyptians used hot wax in the Fayum mummy portraits around 100 – 300 AD. The word encaustic originates from the Greek word, enkaustikos, which means “to burn in.” Colored wax is applied to a surface of prepared wood or canvas, fused onto the surface with a small blow torch and then shaped with special brushes or tools...

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Tuesday, March 24, 2015 is the date set for a Calaveras County Arts Council dinner for members, non-members and friends. The event will be held at the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill in the Banquet Room. Throughout the year, Arts Council members and friends get together for a "get together" dinner. Several artists who are showcased in the Amador Arts River Reflections, a Mokelumne River Arts Project, will tell their inspiring tale of how and why they were inspired to create their art from the Moke...
