Mokelumne Hill, CA...Deborah Marlene's will be hosting a Reception for Susan King as her Artist Friend for February. Susan King is a retired teacher from Hazel Fischer School in Arnold. She has been a resident of the Murphy and Arnold Area for the past 30 years. Susan is a member of the Arts of Bear Valley and shows at their venues. She also exhibits at Art on Main and the Magnolia Cafe in Murphys. She uses a variety of mediums and techniques which she feels creates a unique emotion connection within her work....

Mokelumne Hill, CA...ENCAUSTIC BASICS & BEYOND with artist Suzanne Bell is a one day encaustic workshop that focuses on the safety, studio set up, history of encaustics, and several encaustic painting techniques. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn how to fuse with iron, carve to define shapes, discover layers of color by scraping, and use tape for line and design. Students will also explore the use of various encaustic tools such as blow torches, heat guns, the stylus, oil sticks, and many more unique gadgets! Several encaustic masterpieces will be created by each participant by the end of the workshop. Join us for this unique and fun class! Materials fee of $45 due to instructor the day of the workshop....

Calaveras County Arts Council receives $1500 from Calaveras County Office of Education |

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras Arts Council (CCAC) announces that the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) County Superintendent, Kathy Northington, awarded them $1500 to help fund their Arts in the School Program (aka Arts in Ed) for the 2013-2014 school year. This is not, however, a one year funding. CCOE is so supportive of the program that they have allocated funds annually for almost as long as the program has existed....
