Mokelumne Hill, CA...Crossing California, Sierra to the Sea, Dale Laitinen. Reception - Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2-5 pm. Exhibition runs October 8 through November 26, 2017 At Petroglyphe Gallery 8317 Main Street, Mokelumne Hill Crossing California, Sierra to the Sea is a celebration of Dale Laitinen's favorite places seen while crisscrossing the great state of California.  Laitinen states, "Twenty years ago my wife and I chose Mountain Ranch, uprooting home, studio, family and pets to a beautiful place tucked away in Calaveras County.  The now infamous Butte Fire swept through our area and destroyed all that we had built for those years.  Crossing California is a rising from the ashes exhibit as a way of moving forward from catastrophe."

More than 40 of Calaveras County’s most acclaimed winemakers, restaurateurs and plein air artists will converge at Ironstone Vineyards, 1894 Six Mile Road, Murphys, for the Eleventh Annual Taste of Calaveras from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22nd. The event features wine tasting, gourmet samplings, live music by the Bob Eisenmann Jazz Trio, food and wine demonstrations, local artists painting along with artisans on site and a silent auction featuring Calaveras experiences and Calaveras products. Below are a few photos from the 2016 event that most attendees said was the best Taste Of Calaveras Yet. Art's Council's Art Beats for Veterans

San Andreas, CA...The first Sunday in April was a fine day for creating art behind the gallery for our salute to Calaveras County Veterans and their families. Laundry appeared on the staircase behind the Calaveras County Museum, and volunteer Robert Mierzwak brought a beautiful 48-star flag that made the scene absolutely striking. Models in costumes posed while painters sketched and painted and photographers clicked away (see some of the work our Member Artist of the Month, Susan Conner, created, below).
