42 Year Old Christopher Tilton From Manteca Passed Away Motorcycle Collision In West Point Area

West Point, CA...On May 27th, 2017, at approximately 2330 hours, 42 Year Old Christopher Tilton was riding his 1999 Kawasaki KX250 southbound on Mitchell Mill Road south of Blue Mountain Road on private property at an unknown speed. He entered a right hand curve in the roadway. Due to the Kawasaki's speed, he was unable to negotiate the curve and lost control of the motorcycle. The rider and his bike traveled under the guardrail of a small bridge and then off an approximate 8-10 foot drop to the creek bed below.

Fire Update...3-5 Acre Fire Near Hwy 49 & Lombardi Drive

San Andreas, CA...Crews on ground and air are working a 3-5 acre vegetation fire near Hwy 49 & Lombardi. Access was an issue to begin with but should get it knocked down quickly....(Update...this fire was contained at 15 acres. There were no injuries or structure damage.)

Major Injures In DUI High Speed Crash On Independence Road

West Point, CA...Christoper Lane was driving westbound on Independence Road at a high rate of speed. Noah Tidwell was a passenger in the back seat. As Lane came to a curve to his left, he lost control of his vehicle and allowed it to run off the roadway where it traveled through two wire fences then collided with a large pine tree before coming to a stop. Lane was wearing a seatbelt but suffered major injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Modesto Memorial Hospital for treatment. Tidwell was not wearing a seatbelt and also suffered mojor injuries and was also taken to Modesto Memorial for treatment.

Dale Gundy, 57 From Glencoe Lost His Life Yesterday On Hwy 26

Glencoe, CA...Dale Gundy was traveling eastbound on State Route 26 west of Stormy Lane. A Shingle Springs man was traveling westbound on State Route 26, approaching Mr. Gundy's 2003 Mercedes. Mr. Gundy allowed his Mercedes to travel completely into the westbound lane, directly in the path of the oncoming 2014 Ram. The Mercedes and the Dodge Ram collided head-on. Mr. Gundy was extricated from the Mercedes and both occupants of Dodge Ram were able to exit prior to both vehicles catching fire. A large area of grass caught fire as a result. Mr. Gundy was pronounced deceased at the scene. Several fire trucks responded and they were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

San Andreas, CA...Summer evenings never sounded as good as they do on Wednesdays in Calaveras County. For the 26th year, the Calaveras County Arts Council is presenting Music in the Parks, starting June 14 and ending August 16, every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There’s an all new line up of local and not-so-local musicians, and one returning favorite. The popular program, which brings free toe-tapping tunes to the county, is part of the Arts Council’s mission statement to “support, nourish, and awaken the arts in our community.”

Glencoe, CA...CHP is reporting a fatal collision that also had a fire that extended 1/4 acre into vegetation. Initial reports had both vehicles involved on fire and possibly a second fatality. This race is designed to be a fitness challenge, pitting First Responders (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement) and Military against the general public.  Show us what you’ve got! We are proud to be bringing a mud run to Mountain Ranch this year — the first of its kind!  We are planning on approximately 16 obstacles along the route that will range from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. Participants will start and finish at the Mountain Ranch Park in the heart of Mountain Ranch.  All participants will receive a 2017 Stop, Drop & Mud shirt.

San Andreas, CA...NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION. Lead Agency: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249. Project Description: 2015-011 Administrative Use Permit – Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions (CHIPS) Woody Biomass-Fired Combined Heat and Power Project The proposed project is a community-scale 3 megawatt (MW) biomass combined heat and power facility. The facility is designed to create electricity, heat, and biochar through gasification of woody biomass feedstock primarily collected from forest-sourced biomass. Biomass feedstock will be converted to a conditioned (cleaned) producer gas (gas) in the gasifier, and the gas is used in an internal combustion engine to run a generator to make electricity. The electricity is intended to be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) on their distribution-level circuit. Major pieces of equipment to support this operation are expected to be: a feedstock drying system, gasifiers and their respective gas conditioning systems, internal combustion engine generator sets, a standby flare device, biochar storage, dry biomass storage, a truck scale, a fork lift, and a front loader.
