Forward Progress of Michel Fire Has Been Stopped. 23 Acres, 1 Structure Damaged, 50% Contained

Mountain Ranch, CA...The Michel Incident is at 5000 Block Michel Road, Mountain Ranch and is 23 acres and 50% contained. It was first reported at 12:16pm. There are 15 Engines, 4 Fire Crews, 1 Buldoxer, 2 Air Tankers, 1 Helicopter, 4 Water Tenders and 1 Air Attack. 140 Personnel are currently assigned to the fire. In addition to CAL-FIRE Cooperating Agencies are: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; Central Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, San Andreas Fire, West Point Fire. and 1 structure was damaged. Pink Lights In The Night Will Shine In Calaveras County for Breast Cancer Awarenes

San Andreas, CA... Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital (MTSJH) is once again promoting Pink in The Night in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital will be promoting the importance of the fact that early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in "Pink in the Night‟ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs at the Terrace‟s (Common Grounds) at 6:00pm. All survivors and participants will be able to light a candle in tribute to those that are currently battling breast cancer, or in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, and ones that have survived the disease. “This is the fifth year that the Mark Twain Health Care District has funded the Pink Lights,” commented Mark Twain District Board Member Dr. Peter Oliver. “On behalf of the board, we are thankful to be able to promote this community wide breast cancer awareness event.”

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Historic Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill is excited to announce that we have been selected to host a TV crew from The Travel Channel, who will be filming an episode of "Hotel Impossible" about our Hotel during the week of September 13-18th. Ashley Canty, owner of the Hotel Leger since 2002, has been in meetings with designers and producers of the hit TV show for a few weeks and has just received final confirmation that it's a "go!". The production crew and county representatives will be here to film and coordinate improvements to the locally beloved Hotel. We have been assured and asked for names and numbers so that only local contractors and service providers will be utilized. The Historic Hotel, Bar and Restaurant and the town of Mokelumne Hill will receive a much appreciated boost, as will the entire Calaveras County area...

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Jon Mendle, who plays the 11-string archguitar and who’s toured with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will give a 4:00 pm performance Sunday afternoon September 23, at Petroglyphe Gallery in Mokelume Hill. This will be the finale of a series of three monthly Fine Arts Concerts. Tickets for the limited seating will be $15 in advance, or $20 the day of the concert. The audience is invited to sit and listen to the performance while enjoying the art atmosphere of the Main Street gallery space. Complimentary wine and light appetizers will be served at 3:30 before the concert begins....

Fire Update....Two Small Fires Locally at This Time

Valley Springs, CA...Crews have been working a 3-5 acres vegetation fire near Hogan Reservior and also a new under an acre fire on Jesus Maria Road. From talking to TCU Command Center it is unclear if these were smoldering lightening strikes or new ignitions. More to follow if needed...

Calaveras County, CA...The Calaveras Redskins opened up the 2012-13 Season with a big 54-20 win over Yosemite in San Andreas on Friday Night. Bret Harte had a high scoring victory over Gustine 50 -12 on the road. In other MML action Summerville opened with a 37 -0 romp over Mariposa County on the road Thursday. Linden fell to Ripon on the short end of a 47 -7 Score.


Lucile Fenner honored at Mountain Ranch day in the park 8-25-2012

Mountain Ranch, CA...Lucile Fenner, was honored for her many contributions to the community at the 33rd annual Mountain Ranch Day in the Park, Saturday August 25th. In the early 90's she and Mickey Fleming organized the popular Mountain Ranch Garden Group. An original organizer of the San Andreas Habitat for Humanity and served on that board for several years. Won local and regional recognition for her Calaveras County Garden design. Voted Senior of the year in 1998, and was a long time volunteer at the County Library. Lucile, former director of the Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance (MRYA) and the Youth Alliance's Resource Center (MRRC), was instrumental in establishing both organizations and served on the governing board for many years...
