Sheriff’s Office Finds 40lbs of Marijuana in a Railroad Flat Residence

Railroad Flat, CA...(San Andreas, CA) On 10/05/12 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s SWAT team and investigators with the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU) served a search warrant at a residence on the 2100 block of Summit Level Road in Railroad Flat. Three adults, Carlos Nunez (30) of Railroad Flat, Janice Allen (53) of Railroad Flat, and Travis Duffina (29) of Railroad Flat, were arrested on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A firearm, approximately 40 pounds of processed marijuana and marijuana plants, a small amount (approx. 1/10 gram) of methamphetamine, and prescription medications were seized from the home.

Elmer Leon Graves 1929 - 2012

Calaveras County resident, Elmer Leon Graves, age 83, died at his home on October 2, 2012. Mr. Graves was born on September 26, 1929 to James Alvin Graves and Daisy Mae Battin in Perrytown, Texas. He graduated from Perrytown High school in 1949. In 1950 he married Thelma Janice McGee and to this union were born two daughters. In 1956 he moved his family to California. Primarily he worked as an auto mechanic and later he owned and operated a lounge and restaurant in Scotts Valley, California for 21 years. He was also assistant fire chief of Scotts Valley Fire Department. He was very gifted and talented in the many things he could do such as mechanic work, welding, electrical, clock repair, construction, lathe work. He especially enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors using these various skills....

Candidates Bryce Randall and Chris Wright fielded a variety of questions from the audience and the Chamber of Commerce on subjects such as the County's Non-Existent General Plan, Planning, Business Climate in the County, Tourism, Water Rights, Broadband, Cell Towers and their environmental impact. Law Enforcement and Prioritizing Funding, Big Box Stores, Wild & Scenic designation for the Moke and more..

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras Redskins football team outscored Lodi 21-18 for the win on Friday night. The Bret Harte Bullfrogs had an off week. League play starts next week. Around the rest of the Mother Lode League. Summerville put a Bear hug on Brookside 49 - 12. Argonaut was 14-0 over Thunder Mountain. Amador rolled over Big Valley Christian 39 -0. Linden had an off week as well. In Non - Mother Lode League area action Sonora over Lathrop 40-3.
