Mountain Ranch, CA...What is the Stop, Drop & Mud? This race is designed to be a fitness challenge, pitting First Responders (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement) and Military against the general public. Show us what you’ve got! We are proud to be bringing a mud run to Mountain Ranch this year — the first of its kind! We are planning on approximately 16 obstacles along the route that will range from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. Participants will start and finish at the Mountain Ranch Park in the heart of Mountain Ranch. All participants will receive a 2017 Stop, Drop & Mud shirt.

San Andreas, CA...NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION. Lead Agency: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249. Project Description: 2015-011 Administrative Use Permit – Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions (CHIPS) Woody Biomass-Fired Combined Heat and Power Project The proposed project is a community-scale 3 megawatt (MW) biomass combined heat and power facility. The facility is designed to create electricity, heat, and biochar through gasification of woody biomass feedstock primarily collected from forest-sourced biomass. Biomass feedstock will be converted to a conditioned (cleaned) producer gas (gas) in the gasifier, and the gas is used in an internal combustion engine to run a generator to make electricity. The electricity is intended to be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) on their distribution-level circuit. Major pieces of equipment to support this operation are expected to be: a feedstock drying system, gasifiers and their respective gas conditioning systems, internal combustion engine generator sets, a standby flare device, biochar storage, dry biomass storage, a truck scale, a fork lift, and a front loader.

Glencoe, CA...Mary Gertrude Fallin, Age 80, of Glencoe, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 26, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home with family and friends. Mary was born in Livermore, CA on January 26, 1937. She graduated from Livermore High School. She volunteered for the USO where she met her lifelong spouse, Donald. They were married on May 23, 1954, nearly 63 years ago.

West Point, CA...In this News Flash, Caltrans takes us on location as emergency maintenance contractors perform a controlled explosion to remove potentially hazardous rocks and debris while repairing State Route 26 (SR-26) near the Amador/Calaveras County line. On February 10, 2017, a roadside slip-out occurred on SR-26, followed by a rockslide on February 11, 2017, less than three miles apart. SR-26 was immediately closed in both directions as crews began to assess the damage and begin repair efforts. While addressing these two slides, workers discovered a small sinkhole located between the two slide sites, leading to the replacement of a culvert pipe approximately 40 feet below the surface.

Hwy 26 Now Open Through West Point Area! Repair Costs Estimated At $3.5 Million

West Point, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will open eastbound and westbound State Route 26 (SR-26) from Higdon Road to the North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge, just west of West Point, following a 69-day full closure due to storm related damage. State Route 26 opened on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Final striping will be installed under a moving closure on Friday, April 21, 2017. For nearly three months, motorists in Amador and Calaveras Counties patiently endured up to 60-minute detours as Caltrans performed a variety of repairs, addressing a roadside slip-out, rockslide and culvert replacements.
